From start to finish, this was the perfect stay. The beautiful, historic building has been so well-preserved and finely appointed with furniture and fittings indicative of its origins. There was a very warm greeting as our initial introduction to the B&B and this hospitality was extended throughout the duration of the stay. The wine was the right temperature, the coffee... More

I have had the pleasure of staying at The Stewart Inn two times, and both visits were exceptional. Paul and Jane Welter are gracious hosts and take pride in owning and sharing this beautiful home that was designed by Chicago architect, George W. Maher. The bed and breakfast retains the home’s original woodwork, fireplaces, designed windows and light fixtures. Guests... More

I was in Wausau on business and found this wonderful inn that took care of me so I could focus on taking care of others. The physical property, the food, the extra touches, the near-perfect hospitality...I'm looking forward to a return to Wausau just so I can stay here. I agree with all the other reviews in their comments on... More

Spent just a night here recently on a ski outing to Wausau, but it was superb. The hospitality showed to us made us feel like we were in our own home. Loved it, cannot wait to go back.

My husband and I renewed our vows at the Inn this past weekend. Paul was so accomodating and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We had an intimate vow renewal (just 2 of us), in front of the fireplace, very nice. They surprised us with a bottle of champagne - so thoughtful. The Inn has a warm, welcoming, atmosphere,... More

It is rare to meet an owner couple whose devotion to the comfort and pleasure of their guests equals their exceptional attention to detail throughout their home and property. Paul and Jane reflect a sense of professionalism and genuine hospitality. They are warm, welcoming and attentive, while never intrusive. They are knowledgeable about Wausau history, events, and places of interest... More

Everything said in previous reviews is spot on. As a born-and-bred in Wisconsin couple, we always thought of Wausau as an industrial paper town way the heck up north. Imagine our surprise finding great food, interesting activities to watch (kayak racing!) and a very cosmopolitan city. Paul and Jane communicate their love of the community so you don't just come... First off, the architecture and detail of the house is impeccably preserved. If you're an art or architecture buff, you'll adore the mosaic fireplace in the main living room. When we arrived, my husband and I decided to play some cards downstairs just so we could look at it. The innkeeper, Paul, offered to light the fire even though we... More

My wife and I travel a great deal and enjoy staying in B & B's. Staying at the Stewart Inn in Wausau, Wisconsin has rendered all other B&Bs to second place. Jane and Paul know how to run an Inn. They are professional, friendly yet provide much privacy, and know how to hit all the "right notes" in providing the... More

Just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay at the Stewart Inn. This is a terrific place that we will recommend to anyone visiting central Wisconsin. The Stewart Inn is in a beautifully restored historic home, with clean, well-appointed rooms. Comfy bed with firm mattress, in-room fireplace was great. Steam shower was a nice touch. Big DVD library is available,... More
