We chose the colonial houses for our Williamsburg visit to provide a full authentic experience and honestly for convenience. We stayed in the Robert Carter Kitchen (right by the palace) and it was great to just walk out the door and start our day. The room was very nice and clean, with period furnishings. My only complaint was that the... More

Great opportunity to stay where people did 300 years ago. What a thrill

I wish TA had a six star rating, I would give this a four -- three stars out of five makes it sound like a poor experience, which it wasn't. There were just enough glitches that I can't give it four. I had wanted to stay in one of these colonial houses for 20 years, and I'm glad I did.... More

Over spring break our family of five (kids' ages 10, 11, 12) stayed at the Nicholas Tyler Laundry House for three nights while touring Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown. The interior pics posted by a previous reviewer are very accurate. The house is very conveniently located right in Colonial Williamsburg--it was easy to stop by the house to take a break,... More

I live only a few hours away, and Colonial Williamsburg generally is our choice for weekend getaways. Our most recent stay was last weekend. There are several hotel options if you want to stay on Colonial Williamsburg property, and we always opt for the colonial houses for the complete "colonial" experience. Colonial houses are restorations/recreations of original colonial Williamsburg buildings,... More

We visited with our granddaughters in mid March. We stayed at the Brick House Tavern shop. It is a two story building, very comfortable for two adults and two children. It was superbly located just adjacent to Duke of Gloucester street. There were some minor problems with heating, the faucets, or I would have given this a five star. However,... More

Our family of 3 loved staying in the Masonic Kitchen! The location could not be beat! Located right across the street from the Williamsburg Inn, we only had a short walk for breakfast. The house is 2 stories - the front door opens into a lovely front yard surrounded by a white picket fence, with flowering quince bushes in bloom.... More

We stayed two nights at the Peter Hay Kitchen recently and found it to be utterly perfect. The Colonial Houses are part of the Williamsburg Inn and reflect the Inn's Five Star rating as well. Rarely have we encountered such superior service. It was personal, seamless, but not intrusive. The house is charming. It has a living room, small kitchen... More

Staying at a Colonial House (The Robert Carter Kitchen) was something we knew we wanted to do for this first family trip to Colonial Williamsburg, and we're glad we did, but, even though you're paying 4- or 5-star hotel prices, don't expect a luxury hotel experience. You're paying for the total immersion in the historic environment that Williamsburg provides so... More

There were good and not so good things about our stay here but the staff made it right! When I booked a colonial home on the phone we were not told that we would need to go out in the shared hall to go to our restroom. This would not have been a problem had we been told before coming,... More
