If you are looking for relaxation, this is the place to go. It is nestled in the mountains. Very rustic. The food is absolutely great. I felt like I was eating like on a cruise ship only the food was great hometown country cooking. The staff was very friendly and the owners even sat at the table with us one... More

I have been going to Graves for 4 years now for a working conference. The rooms are always clean and neat, the staff always accommodating, and the food characteristic Low Country fare - lots of veggies, and basic dishes such as meatloaf, fried chicken, and roast beef for dinner and lovely salads for lunch. Meals are served family style and... More

Want to travel back in time? Visit the Graves Mountain Lodge. This is a great place to get away from it all! No cell phone service, no TV, and only one phone in the lodge. This place would be a great family getaway and a safe place for kids. The food was great, physical activities abound, and the food...lots of... More

Graves Mountain Lodge has much history, having been in business for over a century, but it is now very, very tired. Saying it is rustic is being kind. Come for the history and setting, but be forewarned.

The location is fabulous but don't expect deluxe accommodations or modern food. Our room in one of the motel units up the hill had good, firm beds but it smelled musty, had no phone or TV, and had a fair number of bugs, including a cricket that chirped in the bathroom much of the night. The food was heavy, mostly... More

Graves Mountain Lodge is a great place for a weekend retreat with family, friends or solo. The location for outdoor activities (hiking, biking, horseback riding, trout fishing) is ideal. Hike into Shenandoah National park and fish for native brook trout. Hike to Hoover's Camp. Ride your bike on the scenic backroads. About 2 hours from DC/Northern Virginia. Graves Mountain Lodge... We were here for a few nights for our son's lacrosse camp through UVA. The camp is family owned for generations...with so much pride of ownership there. We had a secluded cabin about 3/4 mile from the main lodge. It was wonderful....rustic but had satellite tv and good ac. The view of the woods and a creek was lovely and... More

The best food anywhere! Friendly down home people in a very relaxing atmosphere! Beautiful scenery and plenty to do. Pick apples, horseback ride, hike, swim or just get away from it all! Have been going for 14 years and will go back several times next year. The food is so good. Bring your fat pants! Visit the local store for... More

Often I wonder why TripAdvisor reviews can be all over the map, with some folks thinking that a place is the best ever while others think it should be shut down at once. In the case of Graves Mountain Lodge, it seems to me that collectively, the many reviewers here have painted a very accurate picture of the place, which... More

We have been coming to Graves Mountain Lodge the 3rd weekend in October (second Apple Festival Weekend) for 30 years. Over the years little has changed. OK, they put TVs in most of the rooms (a terrible idea), but the food and ambiance have not changed much at all. The motel rooms are more than adequate (think Motel 6); they... More
