1960's style hotel but well maintained. Peaceful location by the kauri forest. The owners are very welcoming. The spa was a lovely free extra. Read the comment about the 'spa doing terrible things to our eyes' and my immediate reaction was 'it's a spa, not a swimming pool...one is not meant to put one's head in the water!.....I thought people... Nice motel and welcoming hosts. Close to main shopping in a beautiful part of NZ . Rooms comfortable and well serviced. Came for a wedding in the town and the motel was perfect for the couple of days

Stopped in for a night recently to break up our trip further north. Hosts are really great and our room was perfect. Very clean and tidy. The kids had lots of fun with the pool and the spa and it was great there was some space to run about down the bottom of the motel. Would definately stay again and... More

This is an old motel, but very well maintained and with everything you'd need. The beds were comfortable, and the apartment (two bedroom) was reasonably large. The owners were very pleasant and friendly. We used the communal jacuzzi, which did horrible things to our eyes, but which was lovely and clean. The swimming pool had a few leaves, courtesy of... This is an older motel but cleanliness and service well make up for that. We had car trouble when there and the owners could not have been more helpfull, They drove us to serveral places to get a rental and then again to return it. They also comforted our driver. The full breakfast was great and the sausages were the... More

Very friendly staff, who gave us advice which we took, as to a reasonably priced meal at a restaurant. The extra touches in the rooms made a difference, e.g. a portable cooling fan, ironing board, electric blanket, iron, ironing board. Very clean and well appointed. Nice bush setting but close to cbd. Nice cooked breakfast delivered, quite filling.

I stayed at the Abilene for six weeks while in Kerikeri for work. The owners were incredibly welcoming and friendly and made sure I felt at home during my long stay. The room was clean and tidy and had all the facilities I needed. The location was great too - only a five minute walk to the supermarket and shops.... More

We stayed in a one-bedroom unit which was clean and well priced. The bedroom was small, but adequate, with much-needed electric blankets. The living area was large, with a full sized kitchen, and two sofas. You could sit outside and enjoy the bush and birds if the weather was kind. The hosts were pleasant and helpful. The only down-side was... More
