We decided on the spur of the moment to visit Twillingate and Fogo Island last October and had a wonderful stay at the Anchor Inn. Thank you Deborah, Wilma and staff for looking after us so well. Our room was spaceous and practical and we had a great night sleep. Lovely dinner with lively conversations. Good value for its present... More

During a 9-day trip through Newfoundland in April 2012 we stayed at this "hotel" for one night. During this trip it was the worst "hotel" we have been. Why? Here is our story: -> The reception desk was empty, when we arrived at the hotel (about 6p.m.) -> There was a sign to use the local telephone and to call... More

Thank you for taking the time to review. We regret that your stay was disappointing. Your concerns are noted and will become part of our continuous improvement process. During winter we have skeleton staff on duty which reflects in our lower seasonal rates. The front desk is manned at a minimum from 9 am to 9 pm and when we... More

Limited choices led me to this motel as it was off-season and almost everything was closed. There was a provincial election underway and the dining room was used as a polling location, so I had to eat down the road at the R&J Restaurant. Concierge was very nice - I called from down the road not able to find the... More

This is an incredibly friendly place with personable staff who very obviously work hard to maintain the great atmosphere & cleanliness of the hotel. The only drawback was that the wireless internet does not extend throughout the entire building, so some rooms don't actually receive it. Twillingate is a moderately expensive place to stay, irrespective of the place. Anyway, take... More

Lisa, thank you for taking the time to post this review. Being quite technocratic ourselves, not currently having reliable Internet in all areas of the hotel goes against the grain for us too. This was our first season managing the hotel and improving the Internet service is high on our list. As an interim compromise we do have a spiffy... More

My husband and I recently dined at the Anchor Inn restaurant for a special anniversary dinner. It was a beautiful evening from start to finish. We were promptly greeted by the friendly wait staff and taken to our table. We had a table by the window with a fabulous view of the harbour. The windows are so large in the... More

Just returned from a trip to Twillingate, went there without a reservation knowing that there were at least two hotel/motel and countless B & B's. Went to book a boat tour and the first place they suggested and called for us had no rooms available, so they recommended the Anchor that had rooms, the man at the store even drove... More

It was very, very clean! The new owners were just getting started on renovating. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. The restaurant was fantastic. The food was amazing and it didn't matter where you sat you had a wonderful view of the bay.

New owners here. They seem to care quite a bit. The hotel and restaurant appear to be in good working condition - perhaps in need of a few cosmetic enhancements, but overall friendly, convenient and clean. Only complaint was that the windows in our room did not open. With the amazing hikes around town, you don't want to spend too... More

We appreciate your feedback. We agree that the fresh air on Twillingate's safe hiking trails is a reasonable trade-off for windows that do not open. Unfortunately our air-conditioning and open windows do not like each other very much:( More

We had a most pleasant 3 day stay. The room was large and comfortable and clean. The dinning room was excellent. This motel is under knew management, it is an older property that is about to get a facelift. The new owner and manager were great, very friendly and helpful and the location was handy to the main attractions in... More
