Stayed for two nights,as a family visit.Booked direct with the hotel, very last minute at £106 night, mid week.Garden room 218=the room was very much like Travel Lodge, worn furniture/tiny. To find centipedes on the carpet early evening, did not fancy sleeping in the room, so had meeting with the duty manager, who told me the hotel was FULL, and then...

Stayed here when out with colleagues from work and wish I'd had more time to enjoy the tranquil location. A lovely hotel, helpful staff, great gardens and very well located. Will definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.
We had a surprise birthday tea party in the Gilbert's Restaurant for my dad and 34 people were invited. It was fantastic! The whole thing was arranged in an easy and relaxed way and everything was covered by the great events staff. Everything was thought of. On the day, the room looked lovely and the staff and Manger who looked...

Lovely location, nice grounds, pleasant staff. Stayed in the lodges which were decorated to a high standard, nice ensuite and everything you needed in the room. Not much close by other than an indian restaurant which was fantastic. Everywhere else is a short car trip or taxi.
Our third stay at Grims Dyke and the rooms are getting worse. The position of the hotel is great if you are vsisting this part of London and the history built into the story of WS Gilbert and the house is worth the visit. It is a shame that this is let down by the room and particularly the bathroom....

We had our special family lunch for 12(including 1 child) in April, 2012.The venue and range of choice on the menu in Gilbert's Restaurant was excellent. Service was good and unobtrusive too. I would certainly recommend it for such an occasion.
I was very impressed with the location of this property, first impressions were very good until I got to reception and was met by a miserable receptionist who greeted me with an unconvincing hello. She then proceeded to make me wait in awkward silence whilst she continued to finish her work, she could have said "I will be with you...
