I have been at Chateau Castel-Novel for a week-end stay, through a "Groupon.fr" deal, and actually my interest was more to explore the Dordogne region, than the hotel itself. But of course we were also excited about it, as it would be our first stay in a castle. The hotel is very well maintained, our room was very very spacious... More

As you drive up to this beautiful chateau you feel the magic. Even though we were there in March and the trees were bare the sense of history and lovely views meets the eye. We were greeted on arrival and helped with our luggage and offered refreshments. Our room was enormous and we had received an upgrade. My only complaint... More

CULTURE, CHARM AND A GREAT WELCOME AT CASTEL NOVEL Tucked away in the ancient forests of deepest France, a special chateau hotel hides in the woods. Once the home of the legendary French author, Colette - and just moments from the start of the historic Route of Richard the LIonheart - this castle waits to delight. Family owned, there is... More

Stayed for only one night at the end of August. At check-in the staff were extremely helpful, carrying all our luggage for us, and refusing us from even taking the smallest of parcels. We had originally booked for a small mansard room. When we got there, the very helpful receptionist informed us that we had been upgraded to a better,... More

My wife and I stayed at the Château for 5 days in August, it was from start to finish a wonderful experience with just one or two reservations rather than criticisms. We had reserved a standard room and had dinner every night from the 51 euro menu, occasionally dipping into the ‘a la carte’. The hotel is stunning, set in... More

We picked this hotel because we were touring in the Dordogne region of France. The hotel is part of the Chateau/Relais group and fits into that style of hotel. We were upgraded to the tower suite which was a 'hoot'. Its on 3 levels making it a bit awkward, but heck, the view is absolutely fabulous, the romance great and... More

We spent one night at Chateau de Castel-Novel situated in Varetz, close to Brive-la-Gaillarde airport. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a wonderful room in the tower, accessed partially by lift and then a short walk up a few curving steps in the tower. Our room was beautifully decorated, spacious and quiet. The bathroom was well appointed with a shower... More

This castle is magnificent with attentive and friendly service down to the smallest details like offering a bottle of water for the trip when checking out. We stayed in a lovely turret room and had the degustation menu at the Michelin starred restaurant which was perfect. Les jardins de Collette is a short walk down the road with a fun... More

This was our first stop in France. The staff here were superbly trained and were very helpful. The Chateau was in a charming setting . Our room was well appointed, clean and beautiful. We had dinner here. The hotel management helped us arrange a babysitter at the last minute so we could enjoy a wonderful , well presented dinner. The... More

Family run hotel set in beautiful grounds. We spent two nights. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Service was friendly and efficient. Evening dining was excellent and there was a good self service breakfast.
