From the moment we set foot on the tiny lsleta supporting Jicaro Ecolodge, we were enchanted. It was hot, but we were immediately handed a local iced tea drink and offered cold cloths for our faces and hands. We were the only guests on Jicaro for the first few hours and so had a great lunch with our very own... More

We spent the last night before a flight from Managua in this hotel, and it was really amazing. The settings (private island with amazing vegetation) are great, each bungalow beautifully decorated and comfortable, the welcome of the staff great and food delicious. And I did not mention the beautiful swimming pool. Sleeping and waking up in this place was a... More

Exceptional location, amenities and services. Really special... They make you feel special the minute you set foot on the island. Restaurant is superb. Downside: I would not recommend the floating deck dinner. Not overpriced but just unpleasant. We were served a large perch fish in papillotte (lots of bones) with no lights... Impossible to eat and muddy tasting (it happens... More

I don’t usually write reviews, good or bad but having read the review of amennyc, I felt that I had to share my experience of Jicaro which was completely the opposite, much like the other reviewers here. I can’t believe that the service could have changed in such a short time. I came in December with my partner and we... More

Arriving to the hotel you feel as if you came to the perfect place. Staff was professional and greeted me well. It ends there. A 5 star concept with 3 star service. Always a level of professionalism, but poorly trained and incapable of knowing how to go that extra step. Excuses and being defensive they are well versed at. Having... More

Where to start? I can recommend you go to Jicaro - it is stunning. The individual houses are the prettiest place I have ever stayed, with incredibly comfortable rooms and every thing you could want for truly getting away from it all. I was alone when i travelled there but I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to... More

Jicaro Island is a paradise, most especially for anyone with a poetic heart, with its inspiring backdrops, breathtaking sunsets, soft waters and dramatic terrain. The tranquility of a daily swim in the cool green depths of Lake Nicaragua was delightful. This is a memorable break, heavenly and serene. The menu is outstanding, crammed with delicious local treats and mouthwatering choices.... More

The magic at Jicaro Island begins with as you travel by small boat for a short ride across Lake Nicaragua, winding your way through small islands with a the green slopes of a dormant volcano in the distance. You are greeted by smiling staff at the dock who are at the ready with chilled tropical juices and refreshing wet face... More

My boyfriend and I found a great deal on this resort and had read some reviews before deciding to go. I have family in Nicaragua so we only stayed in Jicaro for two nights. We were a bit nervous about not knowing really what to expect. We had a few last minute delays and flight cancellations and were worried about... More

Nicaragua itself proved to be one of the most welcoming, interesting, beautiful and colourful places I have been to. Arriving on a boat passing by lush islands beneath a canopy of exotic birds and against the backdrop of verdant volcanos, across Lake Nicaragua I thought the best parts of our holiday must surely be behind us, but I was wrong....
