.....than the mountain highlands in spring. And no better "base of operations" than the Red Lantern. It's a combination of staying at your aunt's place and a well-run, efficient, small hotel. As operated by JoAnn Gideons, it is a clean, warm, friendly place to stay, and at a very competitive price. From the Red Lantern, one can enjoy all that... More

Two friends and I arrived in Clifton Forge to research the C&O Railroad Archives, and to visit the "Congressional Bunker", at the Greenbriar Resort, in nearby White Sulpher Springs, WV.The Inn is owned byJo Ann Carter Gideons, who was a wonderful host to the three of us. The Inn is located in downtown Clifton Forge, and not hard to find.... More

The location, price, and management of this Inn make the Red Lantern Inn the perfect place to stay for a short or longer-term visit. Walking distance to the C&O Historical Society, biking distance to Douthat State Park, a short drive to Lexington, Roanoke, Warm Springs, VA - even West Virginia (with the Greenbriar and Lewsiburg) is within striking distance of... We recently stayed at the Red Lantern Inn in April for my 40th. This B&B is like a home away from home. Fortunately for us, we were the only ones booked in for 3 nights, so had the whole place to ourselves. The service was wonderful, everything you could possible need and more was avaliable to use. The furnishing were... More

We loved our room, it was charming and comfortable with a first rate bath. The ambiance of the whole Inn was warm and inviting. We would stay there again and recommend it highly.

It's hard to find the words to say just how great the Red Lantern Inn is. It's beautifully furnished and decorated, and extremely comfortable - just what I needed after a long day walking. As a solo traveller, I was made to feel very welcome - like I was part of the family! This is the first review I've written... More

This is a very comfortable place to be. We stay here regularly when visiting the area. Great location in downtown Clifton Forge. Easy walk to great food and drink at Jack Masons Tavern downtown. .

The Red Lantern Inn was by far the best B&B I have ever stayed out hands down. Thank you Jo Ann for providing a first class experience from beginning to end. The Inn and rooms were clean and comfortable, and the entire place was warm and cozy with very nice décor. This was a place to stay before the Odyssey... More

The Red Latern Inn is an incredible place to stay! My wife & I reserved the king bedroom w/ private bath for our weekend getaway and couldn't be more pleased. A very pleasant stay during our cross country trip. We wish we could have stayed longer. We especially appreciated the two comfortable living rooms and the coffee we were able to take in travel cups when we left. She's thought of everything. Very highly recommended.
