OK, first off, the outrageous reviews by so called others is sickening claiming this place is so lovely and perfect! Obviously not written by real patrons, but rather, the owners trying to drum up some business! Sure the house is nice to look at, but yes, as another reviewer mentioned, it's a bit run down and not kept up. If... More

The very friendly house, authentic historical wooden building, with historical furniture and dishes. The real family relation from owner, your are filling as in your own home. The hand-made breakfast was excellent, especially coffee. For short staying - very good choice, for long staying - the one bathroom for all floor is not enough. More

My husband and I stayed here in August 2011. The location of Emerson is great-- an easy drive to Burlington and Middlebury. We were a bit disappointed by the upkeep of the house (cracks in the ceiling and difficulty closing doors for instance) but were comfortable overall here. We did have to share a bathroom, which was a bit annoying... More

My wife and I were taking a trip to New England for our anniversary and after spending 5-days in Boston, took the 4-hour to Vergennes. I had a friend who was working at the nearby Button Bay State Park so when I was searching for B&B's in the area Emerson was the top of the list on Trip Advisor and... More

The Emerson House had been recommended to us by a local businessman. We were very pleased with our two nights there - we would have gladly spent a third night there if our travel plans had allowed it, and hope to go back when in the area. We chose the Meadow Room because it had a queen-size bed, and was... More

I wanted a place to stay near Burlington, VT, but not downtown. I had visited Vergennes before and found it a lovely little town (sorry, *city*--one of the smallest cities in the US! :-) I looked at the B&B options online and picked the Emerson. What a lucky choice! The hosts are friendly and helpful but not pushy. The house... More

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Emerson Guest House, which we chose since it was a short walk from the annual French-Canadian festival. We had delicious full breakfasts each morning, and there was a piano which we were welcomed to play. The host is a professional performer who entertained us with his fabulous singing. We stayed in... Let me just say, right off the bat, how welcoming the owner/manager Bill was. From the very moment my fiance and I entered the house, he made sure we felt like family. This did not decrease at any point in our stay. The house itself is beautiful, and our room (the meadows room) was looking out over the gorgeous back... More

Vergennes is a sleepy little place with an air of period charm about it, and this guest house is in keeping with that aura (although the lady at the Lake Champlain Museum - a must visit - assured us that it is a vibrant community with a lot going on). As the address implies, the Emerson is on Main Street,... More
