We stayed at the Middlebury Inn for my son's graduation from Green Mountain College. The room was very nice thought the refrigerator made a moaning sound, we just pretended it was a ghost as its such an old inn. On the second night we opened a window and the sounds of the town drowned it out. The bed was kinda... More

Isn't Gloria great? We're thrilled that you enjoyed your dining experience, as we've just done alot to upgrade our menus, service and ambiance. I hope I can track down your 'moaning' refrigerator and find a replacement, but I thank you for being so understanding. Luckely you were here on a beautiful weekend in Vermont and could enjoy the open window.... More

An old fashioned hotel that could use some added care to bring it up to itsformer glory. Rooms are fine but most plugs are in the bathroom so a bit inconvenient for charging the computer or phone. Breakfast is poor as the blueberries are frozen (fresh ones were in the market), the milk for the coffee comes in plastic containers... More

I'm sorry you didn't find our nice old Inn as up to date as you would have liked, but I appreciate the comments nonetheless. I suppose you're right about the blueberries, although i don't know in what context you had them. Early May is right at the beginning of the local season. As for the creamers (local) and jams and... My wife and I had a wonderful weekend staying in Middlebury at the Middlebury Inn. The Inn says that it was founded in 1827, although the main building seems to be from the late 1800s (my guess). I love the way the original details of the Inn have been preserved, with practical updates as needed. Unlike some historic inns, this... More

Thank you for your nice comments. It's especially gratifying because you are a Travelzoo customer, which is a major promotion that we participated in earlier in the year. You hit the nail on the head with a few of your observations, especially the convenience and accessibility of our contemporary annex rooms. They're not for everyone, but a good value nonetheless.... The location of the Middlebury Inn is absolutely fantastic. Right in the heart of Middlebury (which is a beautiful college town in the mountains of Vermont), we were able to walk to anywhere we wanted to go in town. The downtown is beautiful, the restaurants are widely available and varied, the college is stunning. The only, tiny downside to the... More

Location is one of our most important draws - creaky floors are a close second. Seriously, though, the Middlebury Inn has been on the green above town for over 185 years and there was a reason it was built in this location and the town grew around it. Our guests can walk to shopping & museums and the College is... More

This is the second time I've stayed at this Inn. The staff has always been gracious and helpful. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious - - vermont style - - large portions - - fresh ingredients. The common areas downstairs are welcoming and cozy. I just have one complaint and that is that the actual guest rooms seem a bit tired... More

First of a all, thank you for returning to the Inn and I appreciate your constructive criticism. No, you're not being obsessive - there should never be dust, or hair in a room that is cleaned almost every day. Although we don't use q-tips for cleaning, we have all of the products to make it easy and effective. You are... More

I stayed two nights in the Middlebury Inn for a work meeting and found it just fine -- cozy, homey, comfortable, with very pleasant and friendly staff. The quaintly tiled bathroom was a little chilly and the wall heater in the bedroom was quite loud, but aside from that, no complaints. Breakfast in the Inn's restaurant was just fine.

You certainly picked a nice time to visit Vermont. Normally the snow would be melting and the roads would be muddy (mud season), but instead, 80+ degrees and daffodils blooming. But we know that the weather is anything but normal lately. Thanks for the nice comments and the input on the air conditioner. We welcome feedback from a seasoned traveler... More

We stayed two nights in the main house of the inn in March. The inn is very nice - updated but keeping it's 1800's charm. The room was very clean, though the air conditioner was a bit loud (it was a very abnormal 80 degrees in March). Because it was so nice out, we were able to have dinner at... More

We booked a stay at the Middlebury Inn through one of the travel sites on the Internet. When I called to make the reservation, the person on the desk booked us into a luxury room in the main inn. The room overlooked the green and we thought the noise of the traffic would be an issue, but it was not.... More

We like to hear from our guests who may find us through a third party and to hear that you had a good experience is doubly nice. We have a great old Inn here in Middlebury and we love it when our guests appreciate it for it's history and unique qualities. By all means come back again and I'm sure... More

We stayed off season when the inn and the town were quiet. The inn overlooks the town green. We stayed in a "luxury" room - sort of a mini suite with a small sitting room, a king bed barely fitting in a bedroom with folding doors between, and a small tiled bath. The room had a fridge and two TVs,... More

It's nice to get positive comments from a well heeled traveler like yourself. You know what you like in a hotel, yet you understand what a historic Inn can and can't provide. Of course the most important feature is friendly, helpful service and it's great that you found that here. We are always working hard to keep the rooms fresh... More

I have just departed from another 6 day stay at MI and can't help but wax eloquently about how wonderful it was. The building is lovely and very well maintained, the staff is friendly, helpful and on-the-ball and HELPFUL! I even must compliment the housekeepers-they all pass the infamous white glove test. I will continue to stay as long as... More

Thank you for your kind comments and of course we'll have you as long as you'd like to keep staying with us. I was just commenting that everywhere I go in our small town of Middlebury, somebody tells me they worked at the Middlebury Inn sometime in our recent history. My point is we have a staff who are very... More
