The Ruthcliffe Lodge was a mix of highs and lows. The setting, service, and breakfast were wonderful, but he bathrooms were so tiny you could barely turn around - especially in the shower! We've stayed here several times and will return later this summer. Located on the east side of the island the lodge is a bit isolated and rustic. No TV, no phones - and that's great. Super location on Lake Champlain. This place has all the charm. Restaurant is one of the area's best. A must visit.

With a good scrubbing down and a little sprucing up, this place could be really sweet. What a delighful place! After reading another review on this site, we decided to book a night at this motel directlty on the water. The location is perfect - each of the 6 motel rooms direclty face the water. The rooms are your basic motel room, with a touch of decorating, and spotlessly clean! And the food! Eat every meal... We spent 2 nights at the Ruthcliffe. It is a wonderful place. Six rooms sit directly facing the lake. Each room is decorated with a theme- we had the orchard room with cute apple stencils throughout. The rooms are basically classic 1960's motel rooms, but updated (the mattresses looked brand new, as did the shower stall and other room features).... More
