We stayed here for the first time last weekend, and were very happy. Our room (#11, Main House) was clean, bright, and sweet, with a lovely view of the garden. The room and bathroom were spotless, and our bed was incredibly comfortable, with nice sheets and plenty of blankets (it was cold and chilly out!) The location is perfect, a nice... More

I've stayed here many times over the past 18 years and have fond memories of the aroma of baskets of apples in the Fall and Ann and Jim - the owners - are kind friendly and helpful but the accommodations are no longer quite so charming as they were 18 years ago! They allow dogs in two of their "cottages"... More

Barrows House is a very old, but well kept hotel. We were looking for something out of the norm, and this was perfect. The meals provided in the resturant were excellent, however the dinner menu is very pricey. Our room was clean and neat, the staff very kind and the garden was beautiful. We have talked of staying there again... More

When the proprietor showed us to our room, we were bowled over by it's musty odor. I had to ask for air fresheners and put the a/c on to get the smell out of the room. The more we looked around, the more obvious it became that they put as little money as possible into the place. Furniture is worn,... More

Dorset is a picture-perfect tiny village in Southern Vermont, and the Barrows House Inn is a wonderful place to stay. Friendly owners, comfortable rooms, and good breakfasts make this our destination when leaf-peeping in the Green Mountains. It's close to the outlets in Manchester, but away from the congestion and traffic. And the Dorset Playhouse provides entertaining theater.

This hotel is a mixed bag. The restaurant was good, breakfast was excellent, dinner had limited selections but was very well prepared. Rooms were okay. Carpet was worn and dirty, some water stains on the walls, maybe a bit musty inside, mattresses were old. The place had character and was pleasant. The sitting rooms in each building were pleasant and... More

I had lived in this area for years and was back for a short visit. I found that even the motels in the Manchester-Dorset area were charging over $100 night. I was so lucky to find the Barrows House last minute internet special- $98 with a yummy full country breakfast. You order pancakes, omeletes, etc. off a menu and they... More

A great family friendly Inn with gracious hosts, Jim and Linda and helpful staff. Stayed the July 4th weekend with daughter and son in law and two young grandchildren. Everything was great. Breakfasts (included in rate) are sumptuous. We ate dinner one night and that was also very good. The young ones (4 and 7) had a ball on the... More

Incredibly friendly, wonderful innkeepers. The rooms are clean and well kept, service is excellent, and prices are very reasonable compared to other B&Bs in the area. Good food, particularly the included breakfast. This is a place we will stay again when visiting our friends in Dorset. Dorset itself is a lovely town, lovely Vermont scenery, and easily accessed.

My wife and I (and dog) just returned from a wonderful long weekend at Barrows House. The Stables, where we stayed, was well appointed, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Our meals were served in a warm and inviting style. Don't miss the rack of lamb, leek tart, and generous desserts. Each evening innkeepers Jim and Linda McGinnis came to our... More
