We were in one of the budget motel rooms. You get what you pay for in terms of cleanliness and friendliness. Fantastic location in the heart of Manly, but you suffer with the noise of the nightlife. Bed was very hard but shower great. Would recommend if your not a fussy sleeper and want to be in the heart of... More

Don't really understand why people are giving it such bad reviews, I had an awesome time met some great people. The location is great, just a stones throw from the beach and everything that you need on your doorstep! The staff were friendly and accommodating and although the place could have been cleaner and for the low price it is... More

We've stayed in backpackers before and have never had as awful an experience as this. We weren't naive enough to think that it would be peaceful but we were kept awake by yelling and jumping directly above our room. At other hostels management would try to settle people down after midnight but there was rarely anyone at reception so I'm... More

Be careful - I booked a room on the internet, printed a receipt with the amount due on and took it with me when checking in. The 'manager' behind the check in desk informed me that the overall charge was $44 more than what my recepit said and when questioned he said that the internet website states that 'prices may... My "delux" room was supposedly at the quiet end of the hostel. All night it sounded like some one was bouncing a ball on the floor above. When that stopped the fire alarm started to beep and the staff didn't know how to fix it. Being older than 25 everyone greeted me like I had two heads. The carpet was... More

A dive to be honest, beds were so close together and there were no ladders to the top bunk. I'm not even very fussy but rooms were filthy and sweaty and many many coackroaches climbed into bed with me. Showers were even worse. Very little ventilation, we all felt faint from the heat in the room. There were loads of... More

As we walk up The Corso trying to find Boardrider Backpacker we are greeted with a small black door with "Entrance at Rear" printed on it... This was only the start. No decent parking! Yes there is council parking very close but don't park there overnight unless you want a $50 fine for every hour past midnight!!! Ended up parking... More

THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING. To sum it up, there was a girl with a dying wet rat in a bowl from the kitchen, sat just 2 metres away from the dining area! It smelt like damp, there were leaks from the roof everywhere, with pots dotted all over the floor to catch the drips, there was no intention of fixing... More

This place is the most disgusting place I have been in. The Manager was "conveniently" never available when we tried to complain. The bathrooms have mould growing in the ceiling. The toilets are out of order. There is not hot water on any floor in any shower. The whole building is infested with cockroaches. The walls are paper thin. They... More

My boyfriend & I have stayed in many locations in Manly (Quest, Novotel, Trident building, etc), and we recently decided to stay at Boardrider Backpackers b/c all other options were sold out due to a convention. We booked the "deluxe" suite for $95/night. We weren't really expecting much, but we certainly weren't expecting ear plugs on our bed when we... More
