I'm at a loss to explain the Anchor's bad press, except that there has apparently been a management change. It was clean, warm, comfortable and good value. The staff were all brilliant and the food was excellent. It's more like a large pub than a hotel though so maybe that's what people don't like, and the car park's very tight.... More

I have just returned from a wet Easter weekend but I was always warm, comfortable and very well treated by all staff at this hotel. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble, the staff work long hours but are without exception well mannered and helpful throughout. The food menu was good and varied and special requests were instantly accommodated and exceptional... More

To sum up my visit it was average. The service was terrible and unhelpful. The restaurant and room were cold (they controlled the central heating) and there was no hot water for a shower in the morning. The restaurant had run out of chicken and steaks and we had to ask if we could have dessert. We also had to... More

My family, two adults 3 children, stayed Saturday night and had breakfast and lunch on the Sunday. The hotel was clean and inviting, the staff were some of the most helpful I have come across, nothing was too much trouble for them. The family room was very clean and comfortable as was the whole hotel. The food was lovely and... More

I have just returned from a weekend away with my wife in Ruthin. I had booked for 2 nights at the Anchor Hotel. I had booked the hotel after viewing it's website. Upon arrival our expectations dropped. This hotel has seen far better days. It is very down at heel, tired and stuck in 1982. It is sad that the... More

Several of us booked in for a 5 night stay, luckily we were the only ones living within a 70-80 minute drive of our reason to be there, otherwiae pretty sure the others would have checked out early and taken the 7am & 6pm 'commute' to Ruthin rather than staying on at this place. To be fair after a very... More

The best thing about this pub/hotel is the staff, who were pleasant and helpful at all times. We had booked three twin/double rooms. They were clean, but the bedrooms above the pub itself were very shabby and in desperate need of refurbishment. Some of the smaller doubles (Room 5 for example) were really just single rooms with a double bed... More
