It would be hard to imagine a lovelier place to spend a holiday. Admittedly it’s a bit of a trek, being 22 miles up a single track road from the nearest main road, but that was part of the appeal to three friends who all work hard and needed some peace and quiet. Having phoned en route we were met... More

What a place to stay. We have just returned from a two night break, we popped up for a long weekend and it was well worth the trip. Claire and Tom have all bases covered, they welcomed us as if we were friends. They couldn't do enough to make our stay relaxing. The food was brilliant, afternoon tea on arrival,... More

I have stayed at Skiary Guesthouse on several occasions and it goes down in memory as one of the most wonderful and unique holiday places I have ever been to. Tom and Clare are young but do a very, very good job at looking after their guests, making sure their stay is the very best. Yes, It takes a while... More

I stayed with my 13 year old son at Skiary Guesthouse in June 2011. It was the perfect place for both of us - plenty of adventure and outdoor living combined with great food and hospitality. The novelty of meals in the greenhouse appealed to both of us particularly when we were visited by the local deer or treated to... More

I've been to Skiary on more than 1 occasion, tempted by it's secluded location. At first glimpse of the remote location you expect simple home comforts, but in reality it's much more than that, the food was amazing, after a long day of breathing in the county air it hit the spot and was more statisfying than most resturants I... The 22-mile drive through some stunning landscapes (with highland cows and deer if you're lucky) as just a preparation for the wee boat road down the loch to Skiary. There are plenty of hills and walking around, not to mention wildlife both of the buzzing and grass-munching kind, but we didn't make it further than a few hundred yards from... More

I have made the epic journey from Manchester to Skiary twice in the last two years. Nowhere else on earth offers the same feeling of isolation, peace and cosiness. It's silent, apart from the roar of the river. You're alone, apart from the wildlife and the occasional passing boat. This warm and beautifully decorated little cottage sits among piles of... More

We stayed at Skiary for 4 days and cannot recommend the guesthouse combined with Tom and Claire's hospitality highly enough. The combination of fantastic Munro and Corbett options, low level walks and wildlife on Loch Hourne, fantastic home cooking and general relaxation in idyllic surroundings makes this a very special place. Dining in the green house against a backdrop of... More
