We visited the Crown on a lovely day in Portpatrick, and sat outside. The staff are very friendly, and are more than just dog tolerant. Real ales are available, and there is an extensive choice on the menu. A ploughmans and a toasted pannini were eventually decided on, and although busy, we didn't wait that long. Both meals were very... More

This is a difficult review to write as I thought that the food was very average but my fellow diner loved it! We sat at the back of the hotel and found it to be a bit dark and dingy with the tables being placed closed together. However, there is a nice looking conservatory at the back which serves the... A couple of fellow bikers joined me last weekend for a trip from Glasgow to Portpatrick. Upon our arrival, we decided to have a bite to the eat in the Crown Hotel. Ordering at the bar was a simple affair and our order was taken promptly and efficiently by the pleasant chap behind the bar. We had a burger, fish... More

We have just returned home after a lovely stay at the Crown where we had a 3 night for the price of 2 deal. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. Our room (11) overlooked the harbour and was very comfortable. The bed, linen and towels were all spotless. Some other reviewers have stated that some of... More

We had lunch at the Crown Portpatrick on the 14th Feb All three meals were cold. The veg with the cod had not even been heated. The two seafood pancakes were described in the menue as containing shellfish, ours didn't have any at all. If they were not available we should have been asked if we still wanted the pancakes or... Short trips to Portpatrick during January have become a bit of a tradition for myself and my partner - (my birthday falls in this month and he brings me down here to celebrate). Until this year, we have (....forgive us...) usually stayed at The Portpatrick Hotel and eaten at The Crown. This time, due to the Portpatrick Hotel's room rates... More

This was a birthday treat at the end of November 2012 which will find the village very quiet especially midweek. Crown is well situated overlooking the small harbour with stunning views over the Irish sea. Room 12 was exellent and well worth the small extra charge. Room has a coal fire which you light and look after and is all... More

The Crown may be a hotel, but I've never stayed here, preferring to stay at the Portpatrick Hotel at the top of the cliffs surrounding Portpatrick Bay. On the other hand, I only eat at The Crown when I stay here, as The Crown rates as one of the best seafood restaurants I've ever eaten at. It has a wonderful,... More
