Came here while visiting the local area. Travelodge is a 10min walk from Helensburgh Central station but has brilliant sea view walk. When I arrived one corridor had closed and I couldnt find the Hotel entrance! Eventually, without the help of the useless signs I found my way in and the receptionist was good. Room was average but was Shabby... More

Visited the Commodore hotel in Helensburgh twice recently for birthdays. Although we visited on a Saturday both times, it was very busy, but credit to the staff all meals and drinks were delivered reasonably quicky. Have been before when it was the 'old' commodore and must admit the 'new' decor with the wooden beams and intimate corners suits the place... More

We planned to stay for 1 night but extended to 4 due to a change of circumstances. The second day was booked on a walk-in basis followed by 2 further internet bookings. We learned that the walk-in (take a chance) was considerably cheaper than pre-booking. The staff were brilliant, friendly and very knowledgeable. We had a room on the first... More

The hotel is in a lovely location and thats about it. This is a TravelLodge attached to the "Commodore" but are 2 separate businesses. We had booked in for a short break with our 6 & 7 yr old children for 4 nights so we could tour Loch Lomond etc. On arrival just after 3pm the first thing we were... More

The hotel is excellently located - we had a sea view twin and the room was very tired but clean (bathrooms look to have been recently done up!). The floors creaked and to be frank the walls were that thin that we could hear the conversation in the next room (an American gentleman calling home at MIDNIGHT kept us awake... More

We booked here for 3 nights whilst visiting friends in Helensburgh. We had a great river/sea view from our room. The room was comfortable and clean. It was also bigger than I expected for a Travelodge. You can't complain about the rooms as Travelodge is the cheaper of this type of chain. It was functional, and as I said comfortable... More

This used to be an Innkeepers Lodge and before that it was The Commodore, an upmarket hotel. The restaurant and bar are run by Vintage Inns and are still called The Commodore but the rooms have been sold on to Travelodge. Room decor is still Innkeepers Lodge not, the blue and white Travelodge colours but the room had been freshly... More

Now a Travelodge. Accomodation wise, rooms tired and need of refurb. Travelled with family......no family rooms with a view of the Clyde, we got the car park and bottle banks! No hot breakfast, instead a goodie bag..........Don't do it! Processed rubbish and not worth the money, I'm glad ours didn't get delivered and I got a refund. Bar end is... More

Perfectly positioned on the seafront but very basic and, unless you get a special deal, you would be better in one of the towns nice B&B's.
