Stayed a week in Taynuilt recently, and indeed a fortnight in 2010. Ate regularly at the hotel although have not stayed there; building certainly needs some TLC, especially when viewed from the car park.. Food is generous and great quality pub food. Friendly staff and a very relaxing dining room.

Had booked 2 nights accommodation for Monday and Tuesday nights. When we arrived the first thing you notice is the huge hole in the wall on the staircase directly opposite the main entrance. Unfortunately even the peeling rotting wallpaper wasn't managing to cover it. Not a good first impression! We got signed in and I was asked if I wanted... More

Room - The room we were given was number 10 on the top floor. After making our way up the very uneven staircase and ducking out the way of low ceilings we eventually got to our room. First impressions weren't great! There has clearly been some movement in the building over time and this has caused the wall between the... More

On the way from Oban to Glasgow we stopped on a very wet September afternoon at the the a Taynuilt Hotel for lunch. It was an unexpected delight. The carvery was exceptionally good value and very tasty, with a large variety of fresh vegetables, crispy roast potatos, and a choise of pork, beef or turkey. Three courses at that time... More

After an outing with the Oban and Lochgilphead Angling Clubs, we went to the Taynuilt Hotel for a one course carvery meal. It was very welcome after a day on the hill lochs, staff were very attentive and made us feel at home. The carvery had three meats and a variety of vegetables all fresh and plentiful

Great value. Old coaching inn with atmosphere. We stayed 3 nights and ate there on the Saturday night - meal was excellent. Although they were understaffed they coped well and were friendly throughout. The breakfasts were especially good. The sink in the bathroom was really too small, but otherwise no real complaints and certainly good value for money.

The hotel sells itself "to meet the needs of the modern visitor while maintaining the unique character and heritage of a traditional coaching inn." Character and heritage my eye! The first warning hits you as you approach the door - notices stuck up everywhere. There's no reception - you have to check in at the bar and if it's busy,... More
