Have not stayed here so can not comment on the rooms but can recommend it for straight forward honest pub grub at reasonable prices. Ideal stop off for a reasonably priced lunch.

Have not stayed here so can not comment on the rooms but can recommend it for straight forward honest pub grub at reasonable prices. Ideal stop off for a reasonably priced lunch.
The food at the Thrums Hotel is poor (microwaved/reheated). The interior is very tired and dated and the rooms are very much in need of refurbishment - very 1970s/80s. They are musty and smelly. The noise inside this hotel is terrible, especially at weekends. If you have a room at the front on the street you have no chance of...

Didn't stay here but dropped in for a meal early one evening. The place was virtually deserted. Bog standard food which appeared suspiciously quickly, so I presume it was microwaved. No harm befell us but not a warm and positive experience!
Avoid this hotel if you can. After a very average lunch prior to a meeting in the area a colleague and I checked our bill to find we had been overcharged by almost £18. Back at the hotel we did get the refund. However, when we asked for a contribution to our costs of retrieving the refund (approx 60 minutes...

Food tasted awful, like it had been microwaved. Rooms were decent size but had old decor and smelled a bit old too. The owner was very friendly, but wish i could say the same about his barmaid. All in all, i wasnt pleased with the place, and dont think I'll be coming back here!
Enjoyed 3 days with friends for walking festival. Hotel ideally situated for the Angus Glens with good parking. Bar food tastey, especially pork fillet. Bar was lively but quiet for good night's rest.
Wish we had read the reviews prior to our visit. Do not stay in any of the rooms at the front of the hotel during the weekends as the noise from the bar and traffic are excessive. You have been warned.
£75 per night B & B was seriously over priced for this place. There is no reception and when we arrived it was being renovated, so lots of dust and builders stuff lying around in public areas. The rooms had paper thin walls and were freezing until the wall heater warmed up. On the positive side the staff were friendly.
The room was very small. Bathroom you could not shut the door and stand at the sink, you had to move sideways to shut the door.
The noise from the pub downstairs was deafning and went on till mid night consequently you could not get to sleep.
Breakfast :- Tables were dirty and uninviting layout of table zero. One choice...

The room was very large, but was old and smelled musty – definitely needs to be updated. The staff was courteous and helpful. Breakfast was good. No wireless internet. Quite a bit of traffic noise (although quiet enough from 12am to 6am). We stayed on a Tuesday night when there was no entertainment at the hotel.
