On entering the hotel it was obvious that the reception area could do with a clean. We were shown to our room and were horrified to see that the carpet was as much brown with stains as it was the original cream! The furniture was tired to say the least and to top it off there was a vase of... More

Dear Ken M, thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel. I would however like to point out this review relates to almost a year ago when as you can see by our other older reviews we did have a staff training problem. Since then we have worked tirelessly to ensure a better standard for our guests. If... More

We're 58 and 63, and have just had a wonderful, thrilling but safe, activity holiday at this well-run centre with a warm welcome, a consistently helpful and flexible staff and comfortable accommodation, although you don't have to stay in the hotel to access the reasonably priced activities. We can't fault it. We did kayaking, climbing and abseiling, coasteering and gorge-walking.... More

Raasay is a lovely little island. But if I'm ever going again, I'll pack a lunchbox, as this overpriced establishment left a (literally) sour taste. When you pay £13.95 for a seafood casserole, you don't expect 5 potatoes with a bit of flaky fish and a couple of mussels. And it tasted pretty bad as well. At least we had... More

Dear Skywalker89 Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you did not enjoy the Seafood Casserole and I must say I am quite surprised to hear that you did not. It has been a keen seller this summer and we have had nothing but compliments on this dish. I'm sorry that you feel we are overpriced as I believe... More

I've been a regular visitor to Raasay for many years and have used the Activities at Raasay House many times. Raasay is a beautiful island with hidden beaches, forest walks, ruined castle, Calums Road and Dun Caan all worth seeing. Raasay Outdoor Centre, now Raasay House Hotel and Activities is a great organisation with friendly staff, excellent equipment and an... More

We stopped for light lunch so can't comment on the hotel facilities. We had a lovely freshly cooked inexpensive panini and a superb carrot and coriander soup with home baked bread. We know that if we visit again we can rely on good food and would highly recommend. With it being within walking distance from the new ferry terminal is... More

Our family of four spent 2 nights at Raasay House Hotel using an itison voucher. For the price paid, we were very happy with our overall experience. Each member of the family found an activity to participate in, from mountain biking, to bushcraft, to waterfall abseiling. The instructors were knowledgeable and helpful, and set the children at ease. The positive... More

Thank you for your feedback. Your comments are honest and fair and will help us to brush up on things like speed of service. We are aware that a couple of the rooms are in need of updating but as tenants of this building we are limited in our ability to do this ourselves. I am thrilled that over all... More

The prices on here are ridiculously under estimated. I was charged 89 pounds (139 us dollars) for a king size room. The king size bed was two twins pushed together with a huge lump in between them and the room only had a tub with a spray hose, no shower head. I have stayed in worse hotels but have paid... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Raasay House is currently being rebuilt after the devastating fire on 18 January 2009. Much of the interior of this historic building was destroyed, just as a multi–million pound refurbishment was nearing completion. Accommodation is now available at the Borodale House hotel just next to Raasay House. Originally built in the 1870s as the Estate Manager’s house, it passed through various owners before becoming a hotel in 1981.All but two of the twelve comfortable en-suite bedrooms have spectacular views across the sound of Raasay to the Cuillin on Skye. The cafe and restaurant, lounge and garden are all open to non-residents and all offer dramatic sea views. We can welcome up to 24 guests in the hotel. For larger groups we can arrange extra accommodation elsewhere on the island. And whether you’re after an informal, relaxing base from which to explore Raasay or an exciting program of activities, you’ll still be able to enjoy the trademark service and hospitality that has always been such an important part of the Raasay House experience. ... more   less
