As you drive up to hotel definitely looks like a 1970's building. Hence my Crossroads remark. Once inside it is a different story. Nicely decorated although some carpets skittle threadbare. Staff helpful and efficient. Breakfast very good A little expensive.

Attentive and friendly staff are hard to come by in the service industry nowadays but not here, the staff in this hotel were outstanding, always willing to help. The hotel itself is close to the standard you would expect from a Marriott or Hilton although the carpets and some decor are showing their age somewhat but this is easily overlooked.... More

Stayed here for business as it offered free wifi which is really important to me. Upon arrival was told that I cannot check in until 2pm and the receptionist did not even check to see if the room was ready - which I thought they could have checked for me. Decided to have some lunch in the restaurant and was... More

Our first impressions were not great, as at 1.30pm we turned up directly from a ferry journey from the main land to be told that the booking in time was 2pm. No attempt was made to check if the room was actually available - we had to go and sit in our car in the car park for 30 mins!... More

The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Even though we were with a coach party the food was excellent thoughout, the tables were nicely decorated and the restaurant staff were very good. In addition the bedroom was clean and comfortable-with a large bed!

The hotel might not look much as you drive into the carpark, but the warmth and friendliness of the staff and the quaintness of the hotel interior decor makes it the best place to stay in Stornaway. We were there on a quiet weekend and had the run of the place to ourselves. Our compliments to James and his staff... More

Reception staff very friendly and room ok. Had to clean remote control when I got in as it was really grubby, which begs the question as to how clean the room actually is? Conservatory restaurant seating upholstery mostly stained and at this price should be spotless. Lager smelled like drains; the pipes obviously needed cleaning and one of the other... More

Stayed for two nights (9th & 10th July) as a couple with a coach party of 29. Very conveniently located for touring Harris & Lewis (adjacent to the main Stornaway –Tarbert road, about 15 minutes walk downhill to the town centre and harbour ). We were pleasantly surprised with the standard of décor of the public areas and our comfortable... More

Stayed here on touring holiday for 2 nights. Room was adequate and reasonably comfortable. Breakfasts were good and service and staff friendly and helpful. Because of a wedding our group meal was unacceptably late in being served on the first night. No proper apology was given. One must assume that both the group booking and the wedding meal/party must have... More

Non-descript interiors, run-of-the-mill hotel and extremely uncompetitive for the price. Even for business travellers, a B and B would be better.
