The Islay Hotel is fresh and vibrant. Situated nearby the ferry terminal and also within a short distance from the Big Three Islay Malt Houses, the hotel is well placed for the Whisky lovers of which there are many enjoying the excellent food from the Hotel kitchen. The double room we are currently in is very generous, comfortable and worth... More

Finding accommodation on the Isle of Islay for a weekend can sometimes be difficult, and finding rooms in a modern Hotel with underfloor heating can be almost impossible. However, the rebuilt Islay Hotel which opened 18 months ago fits this bill. We stayed for three nights, and having caught the final Calmac ferry of the day from Kennagraig, we arrived... More

We have travelled to Islay on Holiday 11 times between 1999 -2013, getting off the Ferry for many years what greeted you was the derelict Islay Hotel. We have watched as this hotel has been gradually knocked down and then fully rebuilt, the owner has struggled with the Planning Authorities but he/she has persevered. Now it looks great and the... Hotel is located very close to main 3 distelleries. Very clean and comfortable. Staff is very friendly . The Bar at rhe hotel is the best in all island. The restaurant inside surves very tasty and fresh sea food . One of the best alternative by comfort , location and restaurant.

While visiting family on Islay, my brother suggested we try the Islay Hotel for lunch as he had heard it was very good. As we had been out for a spin and time was getting on I was'nt sure they would still be serving, but our luck was in. My brother is disabled and in a wheelchair and it can... More

Had an overnight stay here last weekend. very friendly staff, helpful and attentive but not intrusive. The food was superb! Great steak cooked just the way my Husband likes it (without sauce as requested) and a melt in your mouth Lamb shank. Desserts were delicious! Room was cosy and very clean. Will be recommending to anyone who asks!

We weren't staying in the hotel, but did come to the restaurant here twice. The food was very impressive - particularly the seafood - and the service was very friendly. And, as you might expect, there was also an ample selection of whiskies at the bar!

Gorgeous hotel, definately the highlight of Islay! It has recently been totally refurbished to a very high standard and is a joy to experience. The restaurant was lovely and service was fab. Bar was light and airy and a nice space to relax in. Would definately visit again.

During the blackout caused by the snow storms of March 2013, we stayed at the Islay Hotel. Without electricity, we were a bit worried about our stay. However Roland and his staff were dedicated to solve every problem we encountered. The hotel is a perfect starting point for a whisky tour on the south part of the island. To be... More

We took a small (8) birding group to Islay for a week. We chose the hotel a year ago because it had just reopened after total refurbishment. We were not disappointed. It is ideally placed next to the Port Ellen harbour and made a perfect base for our stay. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Food... More
