We turned up for food and where lucky enough to be found a table in the bar it was a very busy evening. We had good food and good local ales the cost was value for money, and the staff very nice and helpful.

We were staying in Port Mor so tried hotel for dinner one night and we were so impressed we went back for our final meal before leaving the island. Superb food and great staff who were so helpful and kind. Give it a try but get there early cos it's popular.
We have just returned from Islay and booked the last minute on Good Friday into the Port Charlotte hotel and we were lucky to get a room. The room was of a high standard and well maintained and spacious with a beautiful view of the bay. The bar was well stocked and served Islay ales and Whiskey. Excellent food excellent...

We've stayed at the Port Charlotte hotel many times over the years. It has always been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The rooms are comfortable the bar well stocked and friendly and the dinners always a treat. Overall a great experience and somewhere we hope we will be able to visit every April and October for many years to come.
Room very spacious and views that were breathtaking ( paps of Jura ). First night dinner ; the scallop starter were neither prepared or cooked properly, the coral cooked but the scallops not even browned ? Main course was a bit of a disaster. A pheasant breast that was so overcooked it reaaly needed a steak knife. Carrots hard and...

We were fortunate to spend a lovely weekend here in November 2011 during 'Islay Sessions' with live music in the bar and at the local hall nearby. The hotel itself was friendly, comfortable with very welcoming staff. It is beautifully decorated with art works that could rival a gallery! The rooms were spotless and well-equipped and our sea-view room with...

On a Sunday and a Wednesday they provide live local folk music they really are very talented and on several occasions' the landlord Grahame sings some lovely solo pieces. We have...

we recieved a warm welcome right from the start and consistently high service throughout our stay. Great views of the loch from our room, excellent bathroom, good food in the restaurant and the bar and a lovely lounge with a warm fire for residents. Music on Sunday nights. Would happily return to explore this beautiful island further
I would love to like this hotel, but the actions of several staff members in one specific instance reduced our visit from a great hotel to something more akin to communist Eastern Europe. I will acknowledge a beautiful location, good food, and nice facilities, all at a premium, but reasonable price, IF the service were up to snuff.
However, the...
