We stayed in the "Inn Overby", small guest house annex across the street from the main hotel. It was brand new and the room (Heron) was spacious and comfortable. The lounge was cozy and comfortable too. Service was quite nice for our meals and activities. Breakfast was nice with good variety and quality. Dinner was a bit overpriced, but of... More

We were two couples travelling together and we got excellent service on this hotel. Breakfast was huge, warm and super tasty. It was a pleasure to start a day with smile of personal. Hotel arranged us visits to many distellery, taxis and so on. Aperitif room before dinner is nice place to relax, drink aperitifs and get prepared to dinner.... More

We were very disappointed with our food at the Harbour Inn. We were there for lunch as a treat. The starters were ok, however the "hot smoked salmon terrine" was just a pile of hot smoked salmon. The goats cheese bruschetta and crab crepe were ok but nothing special. For main course I had smoked sea bass with risotto, asparagus... More

Booked hotel so we could tour the distilleries. Its location was just right next to views of the harbour and sea and adjacent to Bowmore's distillery. Do book the whisky tours beforehand as they are very popular. Staff at the hotel cannot be more helpful and the food is fantastic.

Harbour inn is the perfect place after the romantic sailing with a ferry and perfect start for exploring of the Islay distileries. The cosy atmosphere, lounge for a relax and Michelin's award kitchen is the the only place(and perfect basecamp) for the start of the expedition for discovering the Islay's distileries. Also our group was astonished when we was invited... More

The Harbour Inn at Bowmore is a great place to stay to explore the island. Bowmore is very central and other places of interest are easely reached. Our bedroom was very clean and well appointed, and we enjoyed the morning sun rising to the side of the Paps of Jura.shining through the French door. There is a private lounge for... More

The Habour-Inn is the place to stay. The food was outstanding, atmosphere serene and our room was beautiful. At first I didn't understand about sitting in the bar and placing your dinner order but after it was explained I thought why don't more restaurants do that. If you every get the chance to visit Islay (which is beautiful) I would... More

The food was good but not a good range of options for dinner. Standard rooms were small and our friend's was quite dated. However our view was fantastic across the loch but glad we didn't face onto the street. Conservatory again great views across the bay and relaxing environment. However you don't get the impression that the owners love the... More

We are somewhat perplexed by your description ‘dated’ in respect of our rooms. We have just finished a complete refurbishment programme of each and every room which has once again been reflected in our receiving the prestigious Gold Award for accommodation (the only one on Islay and for a third consecutive year) by Visit Scotland. We are a historical and... More

The Harbour Inn has a lovely little lounge were you can sit and admire Loch Indaal even in the rain. Comfy chairs and good coffee offer a nice break after a wander round Bowmore's shops. The staff are very pleasant too, but the microwaved scones were a bit of a let down last time we were there. Oven warmed or... More

Without doubt, one of the most beautiful hotel rooms I have ever had! A gorgeous bathroom, big enough to have a dance.. as well as a shower, or separate bath! The food is wonderful with great care taken with the service and presentation. If you have never been to Islay, come. If you come to Islay, stay here! Just waiting,... More
