We were extremely disappointed with our stay at the hotel. We have travelled around the UK a great deal in the last few years and my Husband also travelled on business for 35+ years, so we are quite accustomed to what to expect. However, we did not anticipate staying in a room with such a tired and tatty bathroom -... More

Booked our trip to Islay as a surprise for my partner's 50th and had a throughly enjoyable stay at the Lochside Hotel. Rooms could do with some TLC but were cleaned daily and ours was very spacious. Breakfast was freshly cooked and with a good selection. During our 3 night stay we ate in the restaurant twice where the food... More

We stayed at Lochside for 3 nights during our short stay in Islay. I enjoyed, very much, the cheeriness of the staff. In particular, the early morning waitress, Zoe, was so amazingly cheery and extremely attentive. The breakfast offering was of mass proportions and hearty. The room was a little cramped, the electric toilet scared the lives out of us... More

For £65 per night I had expected far better. The room was very small and shabby. The bed uncomfortable and rickety, more what you expect in a hostel or bunkroom. The bathroom was no bigger than a roomy closet, barely enough space to turn around in. The sink was so small that you could barely wash your hands in it... More

As a regular business traveller to Islay, an island I really enjoy, I have always found good evening meals on a budget difficult to come by and until this week, this was one of the worst for quality and quantity. This week, following an Ileach's recommendation, I gave it a try and was delighted with the standard of the meals,... More

We visited Islay as part of a whisky tour. we enjoyed our stay at the Lochside the room was fine clean and comfortable with a view of the loch but the shower room was small and cramped. We enjoyed our meals, and generally the service was good and cheerful but with a couple of lapses, no water for tea at... More

Recently we were staying in a nearby hotel for a week and visited the Lochside Hotel restaurant and bar on at least two occasions. On our first visit we had a lovely and reasonably priced lunch sitting at a window table overlooking beautiful Loch Indaal. While there we had conversations with several members of the staff and customers as well.... More

By Western Isles standards this hotel is good value for money. The rooms are clean with very comfortable beds but are distinctly on the small side. If you like to spend time in your room this is not the place for you. The restaurant is very good with superb views over Lochindaal. The service was pleasant and efficient and there... More
