We stayed at Rigg Cottage the beginning of May and very much enjoyed the experience. Although the weather was damp, Kate had a warm fire going to welcome us after our days of touring as well as first thing in the morning. The beds were very comfortable and Kate served a nutritious breakfast before setting out for the day. The... More

Your party of six were keen to stay together, and the reason it worked really well was because you were all so easy-going and friendly. You were having the most amazing trip as a family and you must have been pretty tired, but it certainly didn`t show! I`m delighted you`ve placed this review and would happily have any (or all)... We arrived after a very hard days cycling on Route 7 in rain and headwinds. We rang Kate to get directions at a crossroad and were happy to find Rigg Cottage just up the road only a few hundred yards off Route 7. Rigg Cottage is in a very quite location so proved to be completely free of traffic noise... More

Your cycle-trip was a bit of an endurance test on the day you arrived here. I`ve since heard from the other lady in the group, (the birthday girl) and had a chuckle at her description of the homeward journey. When you rang ahead to give me an expected arrival time, it was clear you would miss "last orders" for food... More

Kate was the perfect host and worked hard to meet the needs of our group of 4. Perfect location. Safe bike storage, excellent and welcome evening meal (too cheap - Kate put your prices up!), excellent hearty lunch pack up that we dragged up the Nick of Balloch and consumed at the summit (too cheap - Kate put your prices... What a great review- thank you! For "not-very-serious-cyclists", you had set yourselves quite a challenging ride, I take my hat off to you all! I do enjoy having cyclists, and your recommendation should go a long way to helping others find their way to my door. You`d be starving by the time you reached Nick of the Balloch, so I`m... More

I came down from Aberdeen to stay at Rigg Cottage with a work colleague for a couple of nights in the middle of April. We were given a friendly welcome from Kate when we arrived and got a nice cup of tea and some biscuits. The rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable. In the morning we got a lovely... More

Thank you for the review - guests usually comment on the peace and quiet to be found here, and I`m pleased you were no exception. During your stay, there was a minor problem with the wash-basin, which I am glad to say is now resolved. Thank you for being understanding about this. Your recommendation is very much appreciated - and... More

My brother and I stayed overnight at Rigg Cottage after a long drive up from the South and were delighted with the warm welcome. Kate invited us into the lounge with a lovely log fire burning, and then brought us tea and biscuits which was very welcome. We shared a large room which would have had plenty of room for... More

Thank you so much for a great review - yours certainly was a flying visit, and I hope it was a case of mission accomplished for you. You knew this area well, and it transpired you were acquainted with my neighbour - small world indeed! You`d both be very welcome again in the future should another flying visit be required... More

We're not at all surprised that there are so many lovely reviews of Rigg Cottage B&B. To find a place to stay, that is set in such wonderful countryside, is so tranquil and has such a warm and welcoming host, is a rare thing indeed. This was our second stay with Kate, and even though it had been some time... More

A wonderful review - thank you so much! As with your visit last September, you were here for a function taking place at a local Art Gallery, and I was delighted that you chose to stay here again. It was a great pleasure to see you again, (and yes, I do remember lots of little things about my guests), to... More

Your review came through today, and I must thank you for the positive things you had to say. Although a Lottery win continues to elude me, I seem to be always lucky with my guests, and you were no exception. I can honestly say Rigg Cottage is the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Kate is a fantastic host who made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her. The roaring fire adds to the homely and comfortable ambiance. Our bedroom was lovely, the bed was exceptionally comfortable and the well appointed ensuite was spotless.... More

Thanks a lot for the very positive review. You were very friendly guests and I know the woodburner went down a treat on such a cold night. Clean bathrooms are very important to me, and I was particularly pleased that you commented favourably on your en-suite. You agreed to try my blueberry breakfast pancakes, which you enjoyed enough to ask... More

Delightful cottage with restful pastoral views. Kate was very hospitable and helpful and even ensured my bike was put safely undercover in the garage but had it out ready to go in the morning. Thank you so much for submitting the first review of 2013, now that you are back home in Australia following your amazing solo cycling trip. Guest reviews are very helpful to other travellers, and hugely appreciated by myself. It was a great pleasure to have met you - probably THE most independent and inspiring lady I`ve ever come across. We stayed at Rigg Cottage in September 2012. The room was lovely, the bed extremely comfortable, the ensuite very clean & we had the guest lounge with a roaring fire to ourselves. The breakfast was delicious. Kate made us feel very welcome and no request was a problem. We would recommend Rigg Cottage as a lovely place to stay
