Stayed here last week for one night while doing the Great Glen Way. Turned up just before they closed up for the day without a booking and was greeted warmly by the proprietors. At this point we were short of money until the following day and they said it would be fine if we could pay the next day. Informed... More

I have never posted a negative review before as I work in hostels myself and I know how one sided these reviews can be and how easily things can get negatively misinterpreted for the sake of someone looking for a freebie, however; There is no way that this hostel comes close to 4 stars. I have stayed in many hostels... More

We were not planning to get a hotel in Ft. Augustus because we were camping along the Great Glen Way. It was starting to rain, so instead of camping at Stravaiger's we decided to get a twin room. No frills, but very clean. Breakfast of cereal, bread and juice available in the shared kitchen. Close to the sights in Ft.... More

So it wasn't all bad during our stay in Fort Augustus. The location was good and perfect for daily trips. Probably for persons doing water sports like canoeing the best place to stay. We had a twin room with two single beds, but the beds were astable, it bounced every single time when moving in bed. Furthermore the beds didn't... More

Absolutely no way is this a 4 star hostel. (The 2 star hostel I stayed in was far better). Bedroom consisted of 2 small single beds, one curtain and nothing else. Not even a bedside table or lamp, nor a socket point or even something to put your clothes on such as a hook or a chair. The bathroom was... More

Nice place to stay just outside the small city centre of Ft. Augustus. New rooms although ours was somewhat noisy being located just behind the kitchen. Each block has a huge kitchen with all appliances available. Rooms could be decorated a bit better (e.g. mirror was missing).

Stravaigers Lodge A very beautiful place, with really nice people. We are a group of two families of Genoa (Italy), we made a trip to Scotland 10 to 20 July 2010. Not have found a bed at Fort Williams. Dept of Tourism have booked us to Fort Augustus at Stravaigers Lodge. Having spent a relaxing stay, we left our rooms... More

This place is an average place, it's cheaper than other B&B’s in Fort Augustus and as a consequence you have fewer services. They have common toilets and showers (no ensuite rooms) and cleaning isn’t one of their major concerns. They have kitchen facilities, fridge and all the pots and pans you may need to cook you own food. (There is... More

We arrived in Fort Augustus at 8pm with no reservation anywhere as we were supposed to be camping (wind too strong). The staff at the hostel were very helpful and gave us a private twin room which cost £40 all in. Rooms clean and comfy and the kitchen facilities were the best ive ever seen in a hostel. Breakfast cereal... More

We couldn't find a place to stay in Fort William, so were delighted when the friendly manager sorted out a couple of rooms - it turned out to be a great village with a couple of good pubs and restaurants. The accommodation is 2 per room - bunkbeds, with sheet, pillow case and duvet cover provided (as well as duvet... More
