Joy and Robbie welcomed us warmly and, even though we'd arrived later than expected, offered cocoa and settled us in our rooms. My daughter and I stayed 2 nights and loved it. I felt as if we were members of the family. Joy even arranged for my daughter to watch a calf being born in the adjacent barn! This is... More

Just perfect, luxury/beautiful rooms, luxury/unforgettable breakfast with choice of fresh fruits / pancakes / home made bread / cheese from own milk / smooked Haddock and much more. And next to all this, Joy and her husband are giving you a warm welcome. The best B&B I've experienced untill now.

Sure, we didn't visit any other B&B on Orkney, but we where quite sure this is number one. We've visited several B&B's around Scotland, this one had it all. The views are fantastic and the scapa room has a brilliant shower. Home made breakfast and packed lunches are delicious. But above all, Joy and Robbie made us feel really welcome. Arriving... More

We stayed on two seperate occasions and the standard and hospitality were second to none and helped make our holiday special, we were made to feel extremely welcome and the location is fantastic with views from the breakfast table and two of the rooms over stromness and scapa flow. highly recommended if visiting the orkney islands.

Joy decided to give up nursing a year or so ago and convert the farmhouse she shares with her farmer husband Robbie and son to a B & B. It would be a lie to say that everything was perfect - it never is as I should know being a hotelier myself. Having said that it is as good as... More

I can really only echo the other reviews, the positve comments are all well deserved. Welcoming hosts, huge breakast and a fabulous bathroom are stand out features. With breakfast you get a beautiful view across the harbour with Hoy in the background. Following some advice from Joy i caught a ferry and walked across and over some of the hills... More

Lovely place to stay in a '50 environment (but with modern touches) with a great view on the Scapa flow. Huge breakfast with everything you need and more :). Joy has a lot of information about things to do and see ( and eat). Top

Burnside B&B After 21 nights in 10 different B&B’s and/or hotels across the UK we decided that the Burnside is the best. Located above the Stromness harbor, it is easy to find and offers ample parking. It would be a 10-15 minute walk. It is an old farmhouse with recently updated bathrooms and fantastic views. The rooms are spacious with... More
