We stayed one night and ate in the restaurant. Food was very good, much local seafood on menu. Reasonable wine list and well stocked bar. Room was very large as was bathroom. Well maintained. Hotel is next to scenic fishing harbour. Didn't wait for breakfast.

This is a place on first appearance which seems very nice in a great location. Unfortunately it fails to deliver both in terms of the quality of the food and value for money. To start with, a pint of coke that I ordered was totally flat with acknowledgement from the bartender that it was the last of a 2 litre... More

We have eaten here a number of times over the last five years, and the food used to be good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately now it is neither. I had the chicken risotto, which was just tasteless gloop, my wife had very average sausages, and my mother in law had expensive scampi that she said was not as good as... More

We wandered around West Bay for a while looking at all the pub menus and wondering where to get some good fish. Nothing seemed to be appropriate - just normal menus with nothing more fishy than scampi and chips. Eventually we took a chance on the Bridport Arms, and realised that the fish part of the menu was on a... More

I am now suspicious of some of the "terrible" verdicts given by a small percentage of reviewers - I think they must be looking for freebies! We had a great weekend at the Bridport Arms. Rooms were good (slightly poor reading lighting but that seems to be almost standard in all hotels?) Food was slightly pricey, but not inconsistent with... More

OK, can't comment on the hotel side of this place. We went to West Bay on a wild and windy day to watch the waves and popped in here afterwards for lunch. Incredibly we were the only people here for the whole lunchtime. I don't live far away but hadn't realised that trade in West Bay was so seasonal. I've... More

I stayed a few weeks ago as part of a group and will certainly not return. For a hotel that prides it’s self on food, I ordered the risotto which was ready in ten minutes, undercooked and watery. Do not ask the management to order you a taxi, I made that mistake. I then decided to cancel it and was... More

A group of us were working in the area and were split between the Bridport Arms and Haddon House Hotel nearby. When we arrived the owner shouted at us to order altogether, rather than pay separately as we requested, because we are colleagues wanting dinner after a long day travelling rather than all meeting to have a relaxing time. My... More

We stayed three nights in the Bridport Arms. Unusual but comfortable rooms - bedrooms on the upper floor with bathrooms below. Bedroom window gave a view of the beach and sea. Breakfasts were more than adequate. However, the highlight of the place was the quality of fish served in the evenings. Excellent choice of specials well presented and at a... More
