Had a Fantastic stay and would highly recommend to any one thinking of visiting :0) The Host are the best couple running a hotel I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Made us feel really welcome and woke at 7:30 to cook us a fantastic value and tasting breakfast. If all people were like this the world would be... More

Just got back from here, had a lovely time. The hosts couldnt be more helpful, food was really really good, freshly cooked and great prices, beer is also really good, and a great location. Rooms are very clean and very comfy, great showers, breakfast is also amazing. As others have mentioned the owners cant do enough for you, even offered... More

always made welcome if you're having a coffee or a three course lunch. The owners are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Big 600 year old pub, with roaring fire. Good menu and reasonably priced nice, clean comfortable rooms

We stayed at the Portmouth arms for a weekend and by the end of it felt more like family members than guests. When a hotelier is happy to stay up till 2am and welcomes you in with a Whiskey and a roaring fire, or when they pick up a late guest from the station rush them back to the hotel... More

A group of 4 of us stayed at the Portsmouth Arms over the weekend to attend a wedding at the Northcote Manor opposite. I can honestly say we have never been made to feel more welcome by the staff, and the wonderful Dee who runs the place is an absolute star. The food was wonderful and plentiful, and cooked to... On our annaul fishing trip, once again we ate and drunk at the Portsmouth Arms. The food and the beer (local brews) were out of this world and at a reasonable price. Andy & Dee as usaul were excellent hosts who did everything to make the visits so enjoyable. You have not lived until you have tasted the fish pie, fish... More

We stayed at the Portsmouth Arms for three nights occupying all of their three rooms. Our party comprised of two couples in their forties with a 16 year old daughter. We couldnt have wished for a better stay. Of all the country venues we have stayed at over the New Year periods this has to rank amongst the best experience.... More

We had a really lovely couple of days in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Andy and Dee made us feel we were really welcome and were the perfect hosts, we left feeling we had stayed with friends. The food was brilliant and the accommodation very comfortable. Chats round the open fire with them, David and the... More

We were attending a wedding reception at the Northcote Manor (directly opposite up a big hill!) and were advised to stay here as there was no more room at the Manor. We arrived on the Friday and stayed till Sunday morning. We received a friendly laid back welcome from the landlords. Our room was front facing, the main road is... More
