As Americans, perhaps misled by the word "manor", we visualized upscale, traditional, historic amenities set in the English countryside. Didn't happen. The urban site was hard to get to, offered views of a water treatment plant, and was far removed from the river. Did not offer comfortable walking area. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived - Julia and Martin are charming hosts and have made this a great place to stay. We were in the Loft, which is beautifully fitted out, tasteful, spacious and comfortable, particularly the six foot bed. The bathroom has beautiful contemporary fittings and the shower is wonderful! Just spent the bank holiday at Kilbury Manor and had a fantastic time. Room was very nice, breakfast top notch and we were well looked after (we arrived at half ten at night and still got a gin and tonic!) Really hope we can get back there soon. Hope Cove was stunning!

Delightful very good value accommodation. Couldn't fault either the gorgeous rooms or the delicious breakfast. Fresh milk available for tea making. No communal lounge perhaps only comment but otherwise a true delight. Slept like a log both nights.

The owner was lovely and let us use their private access to the River Dart, across the field with their dogs. The room was very cosy and well finished and the breakfast room was very stylish. Lovely food and good information about local eateries finished off a well rounded, high quality package.
