We stayed at the smugglers for the pirate festival. The hotel was ideally situated for this as it is only a very short walk from the harbour and close to the main car park. The welcome was warm and friendly depite us arriving after John and Jean had locked up for the night. The room was bright, clean and comfortable.... More

We didnt stay at the Hotel but visited for a meal. John & Jean have made a fantastic job of the refurbishment adding modern to a very traditional hotel. As usual our welcome was warm and friendly, the food / ale was the best we had sampled in Brixham for a long time. my husband had Fish pie that was... More

My Boyfriend and i called in to smugglers for a meal whilst on Holiday in Brixham. The pub was in the process of being refurbished but we were still welcomed in and given a table. We were a bit concerned that the food may be a bit lacking due to the refurbishment but luckily we were wrong! The food was... More

A good location for exploring Brixham, food was nice in the restuarant and the staff and i think the owner were very pleasant and helpful, my only complaint would be we found a few dog hairs in our room, not a big thing, i think they dont allow dogs anymore so maybe a bit of a hang-over from the old... Overnight stay as a solo traveller using stop off accommodation whilst walking South West Coast Path. Stayed in Room 1, which was clean comfortable and with decent shower. Breakfast was fine and had a decent meal in the restaurant downstairs. Provision of plates and cutlery (at top of stairs) for eating takeaways in room is, in my experience unique and... More

Our visit to Brixham and The Smugglers Haunt was part of a romantic christmas tour to Devon and it was indeed a quirky little place to stay. We had our little dog with us and she was allowed in the room and the bar which was a nice touch. Although pretty much empty of guests due to the time of... More

Many years ago as a young child I visited with my parents. We decided to start this christmas with a trip down memory lane, what a treat. Jean and John are perfect hosts and the hotel mixes old world charm with modern convienience. The rooms are beautiful and the food superb. We would not hesitate to advise anyone to try... More

We stayed on a B&B basis. The owners were polite and helpful, the room was very clean, comfortable and functional, as was the en-suite. The breakfast was excellent and the staff brilliant. The bar area was full of real character and the beer first class. We would thoroughly recommend.

Stayed for one night bed and breakfast in this 300 year old hotel/restaurant. The rooms were basic but spotlessly clean and prices very reasonable. The breakfast was absolutely lovely - all home cooked. Nice touch by adding toiletries in basket in bathroom. New flat screen tv. Bed was very comfy. Would recommend to anyone wanting a fairly priced b&b by... More
