Fabulous little gem - well hidden in a less frequently visited part of Ireland. I would absolutely recommend this place for its great views, excellent breakfast and friendly staff. I would specifically recommend it as a base for discovering the region and for anglers in May - the river is awfully close by and I can imagine it can be a most pleasant stay for those who like to fish.

Stayed in Mulvarra House, St Mullins during the Carlow Walking Festival. It was absolutely superb! Had home cooked dinner one night that easily rivaled any restaurant and the breakfasts were divine - mmmmmmm, can still taste that berry compote!! Bedroom balcony overlooked Barrow River and forests with autumnal colour aglow and warm fire in very large comfy sitting room topped it off. Noreen is the perfect hostess, ably assisted in the welcoming department by bundle of joy "Cassie" (wonderful cross bred little dog).
Highly recommended:-)
