Stayed for one night. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and the room was big and comfortable. The location is fantastic and there are trails to explore on foot or skis or snowmobiles in the winter. Highlight is the hexagonal lobby.

Nice place if you like rustic. We stayed on a weeknight in Nov. and pretty sure we were the only ones there. No cars in parking lot except the desk clerk. Stayed at the lodge during fall color change in Spearfish Canyon. Beautiful scenery. Had a room overlooking a mountain stream. Great service, good food at the restaurant acroos the road. Lodge has a great room with floor to ceiling fireplace. Also has a small pub. A beautiful short walking trail to Roughlock Falls.

Overall I would rate this lodge as very good, standard rooms are average, no microwaive or refrigerator which you would expect in a lodge of this quality. Perfect, perfect, perfect!!! Don't come here if your looking for Big Town elegance. This is a lodge. Very clean, comfortable and very accommodating staff. PLUS "pet friendly". Location is wonderful. Walking distance to fabulous hikes to Roughlock Falls and Spearfish Canyon. We will be back!!!!

We ate at the Latchstring Restaurant across the road from the Spearfish Canyon Lodge. After breakfast, we browsed in the gift shop for about a half hour. Many interesting souvenirs which appeared to be well-made, mostly clothing, hats, and bags. We did not stay at the lodge, but it's lobby was very clean and inviting.
