I was happy to stay at the Not So Hostel Annex and would gladly stay again for a few reasons: the value is unbeatable, the location is great, free off-street parking, excellent air conditioning, the facilities are fairly clean and well-maintained and the staff was professional and helpful. A few things to bear in mind: the bed was a contradictory... More

This place was incredible! I stayed in the Victoria Room in the main house. It was clean and safe and in a good part of town. The staff was very kind and informative about the area and gave us good tips on where to go and what to do. The hostel was a fun and unique experience. I highly recommend... More

It's a hostel, so it's not super quiet or super fancy but perfect for me! I was in on Tuesday out on Wednesday no problems. Easy check in, nice people. I budget travel for business (beer business)... So I will be back

I stayed in the India room in the back house during my stay. I thought it would be quiet since it is in the back. However, it is attached to the kitchen and despite quiet hours beginning at 10 pm, the kitchen was used by the dorm room denizens as their hang out space until quite late. Outside of the... More

I had a great trip to Charleston for the Alumni weekend. I stayed at the hostel because of the extreme difference in cost from traditional B&B's versus this one. The total cost for my weekend stay was less than one night at a B&B around the corner. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a little adventure,... More

I'm not really sure what made me come stay here again because my first experience with the NotSo hostel was less than stellar. The first time around (pretty much exactly 2 years ago) I stayed in the dorm which was exactly what you'd expect: you don't get too much sleep there. I guess I thought if I stayed in one... More

Probably the nicest and friendliest hostel I have stayed in along the east Coast! The staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgable and full of incredibly helpful and interesting facts (not to mention aesthetically pleasing). The other guests seemed friendly and talkative too, which was refreshing. In practical terms, there is free use of a washing machine, a kitchen, bagels and coffee... More

i've stayed in quite a few. hostels over the years but this one is as good as any I;ve seen and the staff the best yet - young and enthusiastic. A pleasure to stay there and I would recommend it wholeheartedly The Kendall Room where I stayed for 2 nights was bigger than suggested and had a lovely balcony that... More

My wife and I, both in late 50s and first time hostelers, had a wonderful stay at the Annex. Location was great, staff was friendly, place was clean and maintained, price fantastic. All in all it met our needs for sleep and cleanup. We will be back.

Stayed at Notso for two nights in a 4 bed room. House is clean, staff is friendly and helpful, house harm historic charm (great 2nd story balcony), seems to attract pleasant travelers, nice location, good price, WIFI, and light breakfast included. Overall, a very nice experience and a welcome alternative to an expensive downtown Charleston hotel.
