The Avonlea is right on the ocean, so close you can throw a seashell at it. My husband and I stayed in the Waverly III for our honeymoon and couldnt have been happier. Christie is amazing and very sweet. She truly makes your trip from great to fantastic, and has great advice on where to go on the island for... More

Block Island is truly a little slice of heaven, and The Avonlea is the perfect setting. Our visit could not have been more perfect. Our room, the Sapphire, had gorgeous views. We enjoyed going to sleep and awakening to the sounds of the waves,, and watching the sunrise from our window was breathtaking. Christy was wonderful....such delicious breakfasts and "happy hour"... We stayed in one of the cottages; none of the property is directly on the beach; the beach is very close and you can hear the waves but you can't see it. The accommodations were very sparse; only one tv worked and it was extremely tiny with a non-functioning remote and no movies or premium cable. Freezer didnt work. Can't... More

charming Inn with a view of the ocean from The Tea Cottage, private but conviently located in town. Excellent breakfast with various pastries, cereal, boiled eggs, juice, fruit and great coffee served in their basement kitchen. Red and white Wine with cheese and crackers along with cookies served at 530 p.m. and pleasant staff. Video tapes, magazines, books and a... More

Just got back from a two night "girls get-a-way" and could not be more pleased. I have made many day trips to the island but this was my first stay. Located on the beach rocking chairs and wicker furniture on the wrap around porch beckon you to sit and relax while offering a stunning view of the ocean. Our room... More

Avonlea was a wonderful place to spend a long weekend. Right on the beach, we enjoyed wondeful breakfasts, comfortable, clean rooms with a view of the beach and harbor, (listen to the waves at night and early morning...) and first class service from Christy ! She even surprised my wife who was celebrating her birthday, with champagne splits Whether you... More

The Avonlea is Block Island's best ocean location and is truly a "Jewel of the Sea". All rooms are charming, you can hear the crashing waves and smell the sea air from every bedroom, wonderful homemade breakfasts, always a basket of fresh beach towels by the front door, a wonderful covered front porch with chairs for reading and tables for... We planned a 5 day stay in this beautiful place but were cut short by Irene! Too bad- this place is wonderful! Christy is so helpful and welcoming. We only were able to stay 2 and a half days. We stayed in the moonstone which is the third floor with windows overlooking the water- we slept with the windows open... More

Avonlea, Jewel of the Sea is very aptly named. The location is perfect. The views are second to none, as far as I'm concerned and the proximity to town is ideal because it's not right in the thick of traffic, but it's close enough to be convenient to the ferry, the (Wednesday) farmer's market, shopping, eating, etc. My husband and...
