We headed to the Gettysbyurg area for my husbands b'day weekend. Eager to see the Fall Foliage as well. Reserved the small cottage in back, so pleased that we did. Elizabeth & Bob made us feel most welcome, without being overbearing. A bottle of wine & a card greeted us, as we entered the cottage. 2 levels, one must manage... More

Stayed one night and enjoyed it very much. All of the positive citations in the recent posts were accurate. Enjoyed breakfast, the nice rooms and the conversation with the owners.

We have stayed with Bob and Elizabeth many times now since we first discovered this b&b; it is always our first stop on our annual two week vacation in the US. The house itself is lovely and has such fantastic history, being as close as it is to one of the most important Civil War battlefields. Bob and Elizabeth are... More

My husband and I stayed here Memorial Day 2011. As soon as we walked in we were in awe of the beautifully preserved home. Original floors and wood work. Very impressive. We were welcomed like family. We were given a tour of the home along with the history of it. The hosts are very friendly and down to earth. They... More

Nice b&b. Wonderful owners. Great food. Community style breakfast. The owner made some cookies that I loved so much I got the recipe and still can't get it as good. The closeness to the road didn't bother me, but I know the noise factor for some would be a slight problem if your room is in the front of the... More

this was a last minute trip and decided to try a B&B instead of a hotel. I cant say enough about the helpful, friendly and sincere hosts. We're both very relaxed and refreshed after our stay. It was like a home away from home. The breakfast is home cooked and delicious. We happened to be the first guests to arrive... More

My wife and I booked a room at the Barker House on a whim; we just needed to get away for a day to relax and walk around New Oxford for antiques. We had never stayed at the Barker House before, and we wanted a change. We were delighted to meet Bob and Elisabeth, who have owned the Barker House... More

The house itself is the second oldest house in town and is great. However, the decor is very hodgepodge, bordering on tacky. The innkeepers were nice enough and friendly. The breakfast was not particularly special and the wait for each course seemed to drag on. The air conditioner had not been turned on for the season and we spent a... More

I was sorry to read that anyone staying with us was unhappy. The Barker House Bed & Breakfast is known for its full three course breakfast. As for the "decor" I am sure our guest would not be as comfortable it the furnishings were that of 1794. We do pride ourselves on making our guest feel right-at-home, and we will... More

We just spent two fabulous days at Barker House. Bob and Elisabeth, the owners, couldn't have made the stay more perfect. The old 1790's house was tastefully and interestingly decorated, the room was spacious, with freshly ironed sheets, the bathroom was comfortable and we couldn't wait for the gourmet breakfasts every day. A really incredible experience ---we hated to leave!!... More

My friend and I stayed at the Barker house in September. We were greeted with a warm smile by very gracious hosts. The house is beautiful and tastefully decorated with various antiques and collectables. Our room "The Kent" was beautiful and spacious. The beds were very comfortable. We had free reign of the house during our stay and spent most... More
