Terrible experience dealing with the Black Walnut. Although the owner presents as polite and understanding I would not expect anyone associated with this business to step up and compensate any disappointed guests. My now husband and I had been working with the inn and their management for months preparing for a September wedding at the inn. Coming from a family... More

The facts. 1. We tried to book rooms in other places in and around Milford but they were all booked. 2. We were traveling with young children 3. We checked in between 8-9 pm so it was too late to go home. Most reviews on this site start with the positives in an effort to show that no matter how... More

My Son and Dau/law booked their September 2012 wedding here. Ten days before the wedding the inn informed them they would not honor the room rates nor could they now cater the wedding dinner, saying their manager made an error in pricing on the contract (They did say the catering portion could now be done at exactly DOUBLE the price).... Yeah, the lake area is not what appears on the site and the grounds could definitely use some TLC, but this is a small family-run place so expectations need to be checked. My party (4 people for 2 nights stay) received friendly and attentive service from the family and were more than OK with the overall value. They warned us... More

Because of the scant reviews we didnt plan on staying, but decided to check it out for maybe another time. The manager couldn't have been nicer and gave us a full tour. Rooms are small but it's not unexpected at a small inn. It seems like a cute place to chill and relax. I think we will give it a... More

My fiance and I went to the Black Walnut Inn to scope it out for our weekend-long wedding. We went off-season and were the only people there but still thoroughly enjoyed the inn. The property and the lake is beautiful and the inside of the inn is so quaint. The reviews on here where people are disappointed may be people... More

We did not stay at the Black Walnut Inn but we went on a trail ride that was excellent!! You don't have to be a guest for trail rides. The cost is $35/hour and well worth it!! Mike the trail guide was VERY helpful and attentive as well as engaging! We are going back on a regular basis to get... More

My husband and I made reservations after looking on the web for some nice reasonably priced B&B's. We were on our way to visit our son in NYC. After arriving, we were immediately disappointed by the overall appearance of the place. The website completely mis-represented the actual condition of the property. They had a party the night before and everything... More

We completely agree with the review below, by Zanoza from Boston. My boyfriend and I thought and felt exactly the same as they did. This indeed is "a dying business that the owners keep milking without trying hard or making any additional investments" …. they make very, very little effort whatsoever!!! You'd be far better off in a motel in... More
