this motel is very much 70's USA, but ageing style has not diluted its good qualities of cleanliness, friendliness and excellent value for money. it is well located, close to the beach and to the inlet, and the towns main street is an easy 10 minute walk. During our stay the air conditioning did not work, but the patio door... More

I am not sure what some of the reviewers experienced, but we can only say that we had a very enjoyable extended stay at the Black Dolphin in Merimbula. We had deluxe rooms and they were amply furnished (although could do with new couches) and the bathroom was very adequate. We had our own covered porch area with outdoor furniture... More

We booked a Deluxe room for our Holiday. The room looked recently ronovated and very clean and tidy. We had our own private balcony with a great view over Merimbula Lake. I enjoyed my afternoons soaking up the sun from my sunlounge on the blacony. The room had no cooking facilities but then I could have booked one if I... More

Tired doesn't begin to describe this place, nor does the old adage you get what you pay for! The room smelled terrible, musty and reminiscent of an old wardrobe. The unit faced the road, and road noise was a constant issue. The carpet was filthy as was the bathroom. Toilet needed a good bleach and the shower floor need a scrub.... More

So another motel to review as my usual was being renovated. I must admit I'm always a little nervous about staying somewhere new however in this case it was surprisingly good. The room was spacious and clean and had been renovated in a modern style. The reception staff and manager was professional and informative. I had a comfortable bed and... More

We stayed 26th 27th and on 26th had locked our key in the room around 7pm. WE went to reception which was closed so buzzed and waited then buzzed and waited and then buzzed and waited. No response. Opposite our room was a unit which was under reception to ask for help not knowing it was a private unit -... More

The rooms are a bit outdated and could do with a bit of paint etc, but they are clean and well-equipped. Motel is quiet, even when it is fully booked. Good value for money. Staff is friendly. Best part of this motel is that it is a short stroll (250m) from Merimbula's main beach. Will stay here again.

3 nights accommodation is hard to come by in the CHristmas holidays anywhere on the south coast so we thought we were lucky to get our booking. And really - apart from the proximity to the airport (but small planes only!), and the main road it's a good location. Nice views of the lake and walking distance to the town... More

We drove the highway 1 from Sydney to Melbourne and planned to stay at Merimbula overnight to break up the drive. The rooms at the Black Dolphin were clean and comfortable. However, the Motel is a little out of the main strip so we had to drive again to have dinner (too tired to walk at this stage). Little did... More

I stayed for a brief night and arrived late, around 7:45. Lucky it was no later as I was quickly told that reception closed at 8pm. I decided to take the 10 min walk into Merimbula to find some dinner and then headed back to the room. For what it was, at $109 the room was a bit over-priced. I... More
