The Wheelhouse boasts the only wharf-front accommodation in Mevagissey; this is both a blessing and a curse. The position is great for its view of the fishing port activity and for strolling around the village. The restaurant is very good, too, and one of the most popular around. Service is good, with friendly Cornish folk doing a great job. However... More

My boyfriend and I spent the easter break at the Wheelhouse Guesthouse, which is superbly located facing the harbour. From bedroom no. 3 we had a great view of the boats coming & going and could watch the fishermen unloading their catches. The seagulls were very noisy and woke us every morning with a dawn chorus but we soon got... More

Rang to book for a two-night weekend stay in mid-December. Was told by very young and unsure sounding girl on phone that the Wheelhouse would only accept bookings made online. (How depressingly impersonal!) But when we tried to book online, having given bank details, we discovered that, between October and March, they insist guests check in before 16:30. We both... More

On arrival at the Wheelhouse on a Friday night at 8pm, having left Cardiff late afternoon, we were met by the accomodation and restaurant in darkness- and no contact number... we rang the Wheelhouse number only to hear it ringing inside the property. At a loss as to what to do next we went to the Harbour Tavern a few... More

We stayed here for one night in September, and overall had a good stay. We had the downstairs rooms, which I think is larger than the two above, and had an excellent king-size bed. The room was a bit dated decor-wise, and one set of lights wasn't working. However, it was clean and had everything you'd expect. The real winning... More

I said we have booked a young lady took us to our room, she said she didn't have time cause they were bizzy downstairs. We got told what... More

First impressions are always important so when you are greeted by a young girl in the restaurant who says she has no idea about the guesthouse side of things and then takes you to your room, hands you the key and leaves you to it you do start to worry slightly. The room itself was clean and tidy with a decent... More

Having read one or two of the reviews here I wasn't sure what to expect at The Wheelhouse. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the place does seem to be run by very young people but they were unfailingly polite and helpful whenever we needed anything. When we were shown to our room the young lady talked us through the usual... More

Wonderful view from window right over harbour. Room small but excellent location on harbour front. £70 double ensuite. Problem at breakfast - we waited 20 minutes to be served before we figured out we had to go down stairs and order at bar with general public. Seems to be run by young people, no owner in sight.
