Peter and Tessa are just people who have to be met to be believed as they are full of soul, warmth and ooze kindness that makes you feel a wee bit loved up by the time you leave. I was brought a surprise Photography course for just my partner and myself. In the middle of April, with a "is it... More

My mother and I stayed for three days in April 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nothing was too much bother for Peter and Tessa - they have discovered a great balance in terms of being there for their guests without in any way being intrusive. What was also most enjoyable was that the guest house is their home which... More

Having marvelled at the welcome and cleanliness of this place last year I decided to take my wife to Cornwall and stay here once again. They say you should never go back and I fully endorse that philosophy. . . . Usually. But here is the exception made to prove the rule. My memories of the last visit were full... More

Tessa and Peter are exceptional hosts. We attended a 6 day art course run by Tessa (excellent in its own right) in the studio attached to the house. Peter is a fantastic cook and nothing is too much trouble for him. My wife is a gluten-free vegetarian and he prepared individual portions just for her. If you go there as... More

Tessa and Peter extend a really special welcome to their visitors. Be prepared for lashings of freshly cooked, beautifully presented food that's made to order and featuring produce fresh from their garden. Enjoy the vibrant art work decorating their elegant home - you can even try your hand at a watercolour if you fancy! The individually decorated rooms are better... More

Just got back from a fab week with Peter and Tessa, who are the best hosts! Lower House is beautiful with really comfortable rooms, always clean and tidy and always hot water whatever time of the day. The house feels like home and is very relaxed and comfortable. The meals are delicious; Peter is a fantastic cook and extremely generous,... More

This was my first night of a cycle trip from Lands End to John o'Groats. The hosts could not have been more hospitable in providing specialist needs; from vast quanties of good food to drying facilities to advice on the route. Having access to a comfortable lounge was very welcome and, as I was to discover, unusual for a guest... More

I stayed at Lower House for a week in July 2011 during a residential art course at the adjoining studio and I loved it. Peter and Tessa are fantastic hosts and the house has lots of character. My room was a family room on the first floor; clean, lots of space. Bathroom was clean and the shower nice. On the... More

I stayed at the Lower House Guest House for 6 days and was made to feel very welcome by Peter and Tessa in their spacious home full of interesting objects and original artworks. Consistently delicious meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were cooked up by Peter and eaten with the other guests. Everyone was very good company and mealtimes were often... More

The room was spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean. Guests could use the lounge downstairs if they wished. Tessa kindly let us dry our wet shoes in the boiler room. Peter was a wonderful cook and each night we ate our meal there because it was good value and tasty. Brealfast was excellent too. We also got to talk to other... More
