I read Mrs Ingleby review with sadness as I hope those hard working people i encountered on my visit to this great place dont get disheartened..... The lady of the Inn was there on my arrival to meet and greet .... she assisted during the evening meal my family booked, and had so much knowledge about wine that i was... More

Although our arrival was unexpected the young and eager staff were keen to ensure we settled in to our no frills, clean and warm room with what felt like a warm welcome and sincere willingness to serve. Our two night stay was made to feel all the more special with delightful service from the proprietress at breakfast, coupled with a... More

After reading that this place had received bad reviews I felt compelled to write something to say that this simply isn't the experience that we had at all! We stayed in the Royal Forester in October of 2011 for the weekend. We wanted to have a meal there on the night we arrived and had every intention of going off... More

We live near the royal foresters but have stayed in 3 of there rooms and the are all excellent. The service is 2nd to none. All staff are helpful and always have smiles on there face. If you EVER had a problem they would make sure they go out of there way to fix it. The food is lush, always... More

We stayed with friends at the Royal Forrester for 2 nights for a wedding held nearby. Plus points: The proprietor let us check in early as we needed to be elsewhere in a hurry The staff were friendly and pleasant The room (aubergine) was a good size and warm The bed was comfortable and bedding clean and reasonable quality The... "The bed was low and if a guest has a mobility problem (and I have) it may be an issue". When the room was booked we were not informed of the guests mobility issues, otherwise we would have recommended a different room. "The proprietor let us check in early as we needed to be elsewhere in a hurry" We allowed... More

This used to be one of our favourite places for Sunday lunch a few years ago and we returned hoping it was still as good as it used to be, with first-rate food and friendly, attentive service. First impressions were pleasing. The menu seemed fine, was reasonably priced and included an interesting "carve your own roast" option, which we were... More

This hotel is one of those gems that you don't find very often. Amazing food, great service, comfortable room, friendly staff - what more could you ask? A great country pub with loads of character. The only problem is, I don't get down that way often enough to stay there! More

Went to the forester last week, food was just average. Fillet steak overcooked and my meal was cold so had to be sent back. On return the vegetables were still cold, mash with sage, the sage was so over powering I couldnt eat it. Food was expensive, I dont mind paying for food as long as it is good. Will... More

I am a regular visitor to the pub and hotel due to work commitments. I have never had a bad experience and i am very fond of the place. I always find the staff very polite and always willing to help, and the rooms are of a high standard. The food is always of a fantastic quality and they try... More
