We had a short break at the old bell. Excellent hotel, friendly staff and great food. I would certainly go back. They were great with our dog.

A beautiful hotel, located in a great setting next to the abbey. The food was excellent and staff pleasant and very efficient. The only let down was the room which was in the modern coach house; there was only one chair, the furniture was very tatty and worn out, television wires not fixed to the wall, toilet seat broken, etc.... We had a 2 night B&B stay which we purchased on Groupon and it was well worth the price. The hotel is charming and full of character and very conveniently located for walking distance to the town. Lovely old hotel, reputed to be the first hotel in the country dating from 12th Century. Wonderfully characterful but extremely well maintained. The staff were unobtrusive and delightful... non allergenic bedding was rustled up on request in advance. The food in the Brasserie was excellent as was the delicious full English breakfast. Wonderful 3 day stay after Easter. Beautiful setting and lovely gardens and Abbey within close range. Would recommend for anyone who wants quality accommodation and excellent staff to help.

Have just spent three nights at The Old Bell on a special offer. This is one of the most lovely hotels we have stayed in. Stopped on route for light refreshment cost of 2 teas outrageous the waiter who served us was rud, to the point of us bring on the cusp of leaving. Teapot chipped, no sugar supplied and when asked for some gave a huge sigh as if we had asked for the world. Had to pay at reception who snatched the money... More
