What a horrible place. A family member had a wedding at McMenamins Edgefield, and we made the unfortunate mistake of staying in the hotel. The building and rooms stank of urine. You get used to it after a while, but at the prices they charge you shouldn't have to "get used" to sleeping in a room that smells like a... More

Everyone in Portland loves edgefield - as the disneyland for adults, it boasts an impressive number of bars, two golf courses (12-hole and a 20-hole I believe), an outdoor amphitheater, cheap lodging, spa, billiards, and good food. However, here are the main gripes everyone seems to have with this place. 1) Beer is delicious, but way overpriced. $4.90 a pint... More

I attended a conference at the Edgefield and enjoyed it, although I wouldn't choose this hotel for a vacation. It was great for a conference as it provided many areas to socialize with others before, during, and after the daily conference. It's a very interesting place with a lot to see, which is a good thing as you'll be waiting... More

Stayed with my girlfriend on Valentine's weekend. Hotel is gorgeous and just oozes history. Since it was off season, some things weren't open. Still, the place has everything you could imagine: winery, brew pub, spa, several restaurants, and more. Would like to try again in season and hit their golf course. Most rooms are European-style meaning the shared bathroom is... More

We have stayed here several times over the years. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the popularity of the hotel has compromised the quality. The service in the Mission Pub is spotty at best and is the only place open that allows minors for casual pub food. We stopped eating at the Black Rabbit as the... More

My husband and I stayed at McMenamins Edgefield for a wedding in early April 2012. I should preface this review to say that we typically do not care for the historic hotel/bed and breakfast type of accommodations. With that said, Edgefield far exceeded our expectations. The hotel has a great location. It is an easy drive from the airport (~15... More

Basic rooms, no bathrooms, noisy, overcrowded. I've been staying at McMenamins properties for 15 years ... I was one of the first people to stay at the Edgefield when it first opened but it has really changed since then. I think that success has taken it's toll on this business. The train noise is bad. The soaking pool is filled... More

So a group of us (six) stayed at McMenamins Edgefield to celebrate a 30th Birthday. In the past it has been a perfect place to celebrate life's events; roam the grounds with a cocktail, soak in the out door pool, and kick back, but apparently we stayed at the wrong place. We felt singled out by security, the bar tenders... More

Tue 2/21/12: McMenamins-Edgefield/Troutdale, OR/mcmenamins.com/54-edgefield-home . Rather than the usual hotels in Portland w/complimentary breakfast, frig+microwave, in town, thou no parking, we opted for McMenamins in Edgefield with their recent reviews. Edgefield seemed to match with our old style of BandB traveling, thou Kennedy’s reviews sounds busy and noisy. We love the remote location, the garden charm, the architecture, and the... More

Stayed at Edgefield for an annual retreat with some gal pals. The place has atmosphere galore - some thought it cool but I found it a bit creepy, drafty and as others have mentioned, noisy. The grounds are wonderful and the spa and restaurants are very nice but a bit spendy. This place works as a place to meet up... More
