The lodge has the rustic character of the national park lodges, which provides for an amazing place to stay. What it lacks in luxury, it makes up for in comfort, service, setting, and views. The rooms are small, but provide breathtaking views and have exceptionally comfortable beds. The food at The Cascade Dining Room is excellent, especially the Timber Toast... More

Timberline lodge is a breathtaking beauty! While the inner lodge is amazing with it's grand structure, fireplaces and picture windows, the rooms are cozy and quaint. On the outside you wittness the beauty of current day but as soon as you walk in you go back in time 75 years. Prices are on the high side, rooms are small but... More

This was a great visit, good food, excellent snow - it's the place where they filmed The Shining. Spectacular views and well worth a visit for a night or too. I even got to hold the ' Here's Johnny' axe! More

We stayed at the Lodge in July 2011 ~ we booked one of the cheapest rooms - $180 a night for a small (very small) room with twin beds and a small bath ~ no TV (but we knew that in advance). However, the view from the window was spectacular ~ Mt. Hood. Just staying in the Lodge was a... More

Built in 1938 by workers hobbled by the Depression, this lodge is a tribute to the resourcefulness of men and women working together to get a job done! The Lodge should be on everyone's list of things to see as it is in an incredible location with wonderful views of Mt. Hood. We visited in winter and were very impressed... More

OK, downsides first. Walls of the rooms are paper thin. They post signs noting quiet hours, but bear in mind they do provide earplugs in every room. Also, despite the price, this is still a rustic-style lodge. Bring tire chains. Be ready to clean off your car if you come in winter. And it is not cheap. All that said...... More

I'm a local so I'm a little biased towards this lovely place, although I hadn't stayed here in about 20 years. The fireplace, old fashioned game room (with ping pong, table shuffle board and board games), St. Bernards and overall architecture make for a nice short stay. The outdoor pool and outdoor hot tub were fun in a raging snowstorm.... More

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I booked a night at the Timberline. Was in the area for a conference, and wanted to do a side trip. A friend said that a stay at the Timberline was a must, so I dragged my friend up the snow covered mountain, and it felt like Christmas in late April! Beautiful... More

We stayed in the Timberline for 1 night in September 2011. The hotel itself is quaint, with some wonderful features inside, the artwork is lovely and it just has a real historical feel to it. We only stayed one night and didn't venture up the slopes to ski. We did, however, explore the grounds. In September, there is still great... More

The lodge is beautiful and everyone knows the views are fantastic. Even my 8 year old daughter appreciated the beauty and history of the place; she couldn't get enough of wandering about looking at all the original art work. My six year old son made his own photo journal of the lodge on the droid. As people have said, it... More
