Built in 1938 by workers hobbled by the Depression, this lodge is a tribute to the resourcefulness of men and women working together to get a job done! OK, downsides first. Walls of the rooms are paper thin. They post signs noting quiet hours, but bear in mind they do provide earplugs in every room. Also, despite the price, this is still a rustic-style lodge. Bring tire chains. Be ready to clean off your car if you come in winter. And it is not cheap. All that said...... More

The fireplace, old fashioned game room (with ping pong, table shuffle board and board games), St. Bernards and overall architecture make for a nice short stay.
