Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed at the DoubleTree Ranch for 2 nights this week with our family of 3. An incredible place for adults and kids alike. We stayed in the Summer House which was one of the cleanest hotels/cabins/etc I've ever stayed in, with deliciously comfortable beds. Comforts of home but in a rural, nature-filled setting where you can really disconnect and enjoy. Nice walk to the river -more blackberries than my 3 year old could eat! Rick and Carol were gracious hosts - thank you! We Look forward to coming back next summer!

It has been several years (2010?) since we've been to Doubletree but we are headed back there next week. I love the location - it is so warm and inviting. If I were a book writer or artist, this is the place I'd go to focus on my work. The cabins are fun, roomy, and wonderfully kept. Laundry onsite. Rick and Carol are so friendly and accommodating. It will be fun to see them again. The things I remember most: standing outside with the wind softly blowing, the aroma of the trees and the river, and thinking to myself, I want to stay here forever.

Our Family stayed in the Meadow house to Celebrate a 70th Birthday. We had so much fun exploring . We went to the river beach spot and skipped stones . The owners made it easy by having chairs close so you don't have to lug them down the trail. It is a very special place... good memories.

Just outside of Grants Pass is this beautiful Ranch that I stayed at during a family vacation. The big cabin is spacious and had everything we needed. There is a small cabin "The Sudsy Pup" that had beach towels, chairs, games, extra blankets, etc. that anyone can use. We also rented a smaller cabin that had plum trees, grapes, and apples to eat! This property was so relaxing, each morning we sat out on the large deck and had coffee and ate dinner on the patio. We walked down to the river to swim, fish, and watch the jet boats go by. The owners are very laid back, and welcoming. Our weekend flew by!! I'd definitely recommend this place to others. The landscape is kept up on, and is decorated with cute covered wagons! It was like a step back in time, I loved the antique feel!

We loved this place! Family of 6 from FL stayed in the Cedar House and stayed an extra night we were having so much fun. Very relaxing, and the blackberries on the trail to the river were amazing! It is very serene and quiet - just what we were looking for. Even though there is no tv and we limited our kids on their 'devices', this was their favorite spot on our entire two week trip. We played games, watched wildlife, swam in the river, and hiked. The chairs at the river were a great touch, and the owners were really helpful and pleasant. We would love to come back!!

We just returned from our stay at the ranch. We were excited to go there based on previous reviews. Once we arrived, we were even more pleased. Rick the owner, greeted us personally when we arrived. The Cedar House was spacious and as one of our children said, it's one of a kind. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we tried to book another night there. Unfortunately they were full for that night. Our family loved this getaway so much, that we look forward to planning a larger family reunion type getaway there. I gave the sleep quality a 4/5 probably because we are used to our tempurpedic bed and have a more difficult time sleeping anywhere else since we got it. We love the Doubletree Ranch!

This was our first trip to Oregon. We loved everything about the Doubletree--the location overlooking the river; the comfortable, well-appointed cabins; the quiet and, of course, Rick, whose appreciation and knowledge of history and the outdoors are infectious. We found the Doubletree to be an excellent base to explore and we changed our plans to extend our stay at the Doubletree. There is a lot to do in the area and we enjoyed Hellgate jetboats, Ashland, Crater Lake, local restaurants and wineries. We particularly enjoyed floating down the Rogue on inner tubes and hiking from the ranch. Other guests were friendly, interested, and fun but respectful of one's privacy. Most have been coming for years and all spoke of the magical allure of Doubletree Ranch. We live in Massachusetts but plan to return again next year.

We try to design our trips so that we can arrange a stay here. The view from the Stillwater porch is relaxing and refreshing, the grounds offer well-marked trails for walking, and Rick and Carol provide a warm welcome. Watch for the wild turkeys, and say hi to the horses on your walk. Enjoy the quiet in a delighfully remote setting.

Our family stayed at Carole and Rick's ranch for 5 days in June. It was simply magical. With two small children the ranch provided the perfect playground. The beach by the river was a particular highlight and we spent several happy days there with only the wildlife for company. Carole and Rick are lovely people who made us feel instantly at home. They are proud of the place they have built and so they should be. The Shetland lodge had everything we needed and there were shops nearby in Merlin, Grants Pass is also a short drive and worth a visit. The memory of our time there will no doubt provide a great deal of joy...I only hope we get to go back.

Rick and Carole are wonderful hosts who treat their guests like family. We truly enjoyed spending time with them at their amazing ranch. We always learn so much about the past ways of life from talking to Rick and Carole. Our children love it here as well. The property is beautiful and peaceful. The cabins are clean and have everything you need. Thank you for watching our dogs for us again during our afternoon rafting trip (Rogue Wilderness Adventure). Our Labs just love it here too! It's their vacation as well. It is truly a special place. Ps. While you are here, we recommend visiting Pennington Farms for their homemade jam and pies.
