I have been on a historic hotel kick lately so decided to stay here when a business meeting brought me to Hood River. The hotel is very cuts and nicely preserved. It's an old hotel but very clean and preserved well. Hard wood floors are a bit creaky but in good condition. The ha Lways all have historic pictures in... More

Nothing fancy but you get the necessities and a clean room that's within walking distance of several breweries and coffee shops. There's a $25 pet fee but you get a doggie gift bag and the staff was extremely understanding when they had to call us because our dogs wouldn't quit barking... you also get a $10 voucher towards breakfast and... For [pet owners (like us), traveling with our furry buddies is the best. We're happy you and yours found your way here. Yes, the pups can get excited and anxious in unfamiliar surroundings. Thank you for understanding out staff's need to calm the puppy party. Our goal is the comfort of all our guests -- a delicate balancing act, as... More

Wife wanted (needed?) to go down to Oregon to pick up a new pup, and we decided to stay the weekend in Hood River. GOt here way too late due to some blocked off Yakima Nation roads, forcing us to more than 100 mile detour, but once we got here, all was OK. Got a room on top floor (3rd)... More

Thanks for sharing your impressions of our little piece of history. We couldn't have said it better ourselves. We're glad to hear how much you appreciated our staff -- they're the best, and always willing to help guests enjoy their stay. Sorry about the heat issue. You're right -- it's been a chilly spring, and we had our system geared... More

My girlfriend and I spent four days in Hood River. We stayed at the Hood River Hotel. The location was great, the room clean, the staff friendly, and room priced well. I will definitely stay there again. The breakfast at the Cornerstone Cuisine was fantastic.

My husband and I and our 10-month old daughter stayed at the Hood River Hotel on Saturday night while in town visiting friends. The ambiance of the hotel was just what we had expected, and we enjoyed staying somewhere with a history. The staff were pleasant and the location was fantastic. HOWEVER, the noise from the train, the street, and... More

First, thank you for your kind words about our ambience, staff and historic charm. It's what we try to share with every guest. Secondly, I'm so sorry to hear that the train traffic disturbed your sleep. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about the train. When this hotel was built, the only way people could get to town was... More

In mid February my wife and I, our daughter and son-in-law spent a weekend at the Hood River Hotel. The building has a pleasant aura of the earlier 20th century with high stained wood ceilings in the reception area and the dining room. The rooms are large, clean, and with some patina. The hotel's location in delightful downtown Hood River... More

Well, David, we hope the weather during your visit was more typical of Hood River, and not the ice storm that hit us in mid-February, and probably reminded you of your home turf. Thanks for staying with us. We're glad you had a good time. More

I was working on a movie shoot and the company was relocating from Montana to the Oregon Coast to finish the film. I left Montana at 8:00 AM and drove through the worst blizzard I have ever experienced. The awful weather continued through Washington and into Oregon. At about 6:00PM I had a flat time on the freeway. I changed... More

Thanks, Mike, for sharing your experience. Blizzards aren't part of what we offer, but when they occur (rarely, BTW), we like to believe that we provide just what you experienced -- a haven from the storm. Of course, even in good weather, many of our guests escape here from their own private "storms" -- work stress, mind-numbingly familiar routines, family... More

A wonderful chance to experience the type of hotel my grandparents would have stayed in. Loved the brass gate elevator and the rooms were quaint with antique furniture. We stayed on the 3rd floor in a courtyard room for $107 a night, It was very quiet. The only bad thing I can really say is that they only gave us... More

We love our elevator -- and all the other period detail that has been lovingly restored. Glad you liked it, too. Sorry about the towels. Our front desk would have been happy to provide more to you. Next time, if for some reason you find the room understocked, just call the front desk and ask for more. Again, thanks for... More

I stayed at Hood River Hotel (Hood River, OR) on a Sunday in late Sept. 2011 during my exploration of the Columbia River Gorge. Great ambiance, old fashioned elevator, wonderful river views. My spacious (I mean huge) 2nd floor premium family suite had separate bedroom, two bathrooms, full separate kitchen with neat creaky floor, and huge living room with tall... More

I am copying the review by Questmeister as I agree with most everything he said and we stayed in the same room as he did for $109.00! (Winter pricing). The noise bothered us more.....but they give out free ear plugs at the desk ;^) We also ate dinner at Celilo's across the street and loved the atmosphere and the food.... More
