The Grand Lodge is a nice place to visit, but its not as funky and cool as Edgefield. There are numerous pubs and a soaking pool, but it doesn't have as many "hidey-holes" and neat secret places as Edgefield. Food is alright, not great, rooms are small but very comfortable. Stayed here on a Sunday night, which was very quiet with few guests. Rooms are nicely appointed, though small (hey, it's historic!). This hotel building is one to explore--there are so many fun nooks and crannies fill with McMenamins legendary art: historical paintings with whimsy, wrought iron light fixtures, hand painted borders (instead of moldings). The grounds are pleasant too, and several outdoor restaurants are delightful in the summer. Food is always good, if a bit slow in delivery.

We live nearby so I cannot comment on the rooms (though they seem to be in the middle of the hallways to every activity and must not be quiet with all the folks passing by!) but we love the food and the wait staff.
