This cottage had all the old charm of the past, the furniture was well suited to this cottage "Henty" the cleaner was very friendly and set up the table as we were catching up with friends and having them for dinner. The next day the owner dropped by with his shirt saying sercurity..asked about our guests and how our dinner... More

dont trust the owner he will not refund any money grabbed from your credit card in error. this is the shameful face of Australian tourism. It promises much but deliver little. Strahan is fine town and would be much better if people like this were removed from the scene.

You have got to be joking!!!! $320 a night for this. I have stayed in resorts in even bigger tourist hubs than here for less and got more. Quaint and cosy = dated and tiny. Too small for four. I was really disappointed at the quality of the properties inclusions. Despite its own self rated 4 star status, for the... More

My wife and I stayed in the Church Cottage between Christmas and New Years. Based on the website, we expected a charming cottage, ideal for spending a quiet few days together. Unfortunately, we did not get what we expected. I could write quite a long essay detailing our woes with the cottage, but for the sake of brevity, I will... More

What appears to be a lovely little cottage is indeed quite neglected and poorly presented. Broken windows in bedroom, no lightbulb in lamps, milk crates for chairs in courtyard, microwave in the loungeroom, cheap towels, zero (and I mean none) condiments, butter, breakfast provisions, no coffee, a few old tea bags, crappy kettle. But the highlight was the large bags... More

The 4 star rating is based on our renting the cottage for $99 a night for 3 nights, instead of the usual rate, through an internet discount deal. In that context this quaint cottage was good value. The facilities provided, and being across the road from the supermarket and a short walk to the wharf area, met our needs admirably.... More

We spent 2 nights in the Henty Cottage last week and despite the pretty pictures we were not impressed. The proprietors seem to think they can hide behind the 'quaint and quirky' tag when really the cottage needs a BIG makeover. For $180 a night I at least expect good heating, not worn out electric heaters that were probably installed... More

The 'Sir John' cottage was conveniently located across the road from the local supermarket and a short walk (albeit down the hill) to the main esplanade. We enjoyed its rustic charm but it lacked some of the conveniences of other properties we stayed at of similar kind eg the fridge was tiny, the cooking facilities limited and the fire a... More

We stayed in the Church and our first impressions were fairly favourable as it is a charming old building. I think it is best enjoyed for one or two nights, as the practicalities do begin to jar after a couple of days. It is a a very large space (very high ceiling of course)to heat for a start and it... I am not quite quite sure why some people seem suprised at the age and decor of these cottages?... They are called Strahan COLONIAL cottages... Not MODERN or FUTURISTIC. We found the Police Superintendent's Cottage beautiful and charming. Yes, it is old school, but it is wholesome, honest and rustic. Loved our stay, only tiny request would be to meet... More
